The Peoples Republic of Fishers continues to try and stay in power with its latest name change. In his latest move to try and fool the people of Fishers Scott Faultless has changed the name of his new city from Hybrid to Modified. Same old product new name, maybe he should go to work for a food or a soap company. You have to wonder why? Maybe it has to do with bad press and lawsuits. Yet he continues with the same underlying issue that the “Modified” City is not a city but a town form of government with a city name. The only change is that this modified form of government where the new city council appoints the “Mayor”. You read that correctly “appointed” which means the janitor (who actually might be a better choice than one of Scottie’s buddies) or anyone off the street or even someone who was never elected to any office. To top if off it becomes a total figurehead office and is not a real mayor like in every other city in the state.

To give you an idea of his way of thinking he has said that both questions about a city will be on the ballot. Sounds good until you see the fine print. If both pass then the modified city become law. So how do you educate the citizens to vote yes for one city and no for the other city? That is what he is counting on to continue the power in the hands of one person.

One of the ways he stays in power is to rig committees and boards. In some cases that law requires that boards cannot be made up from all one political party. The Scott solution have independents, who are not independent, be the others on the board. Just line up a bunch of people who declare themselves independent at the polls and then use them on these committees. One of the independents from the Merger Committee was seen at a recent major Republican gathering. The Chairmen of the Merger Committee is a former Town Council President and has a major contract with the Town. No wonder he didn’t listen to input and took action without ant input on the merger question. Conflict of interest of course but this is Fishers. I am sorry the Peoples Republic of Fishers.

Actually a very good article from start to finish. Not much new but a few nice insights form other elected officials of the area. One very big surprise.

At the tail end of this article is a defense of Charlie by Scott Faultless, two items Scott must be scared that Charlie is going to spill the beans on all the back room deals that go on in Fishers, so Scott has to be nice to him. Then is the statement that Charlie was a de facto member of the Town Council. Mr. Faultless would love to have a town council that is all de facto no elections. In fact he has proposed a new city government where the Mayor is appointed. The fact is that Mr. While was not a legal member in standing on the Town Council after he moved out of his district.

But then again this is Fishers where Mr.Faultless believe everything he says.

The Fishers Town Council believes in holding on to power no matter what the costs. I am sure many of you will find this interesting.

If you live in Fishers, In this should be of extreme interest to you. The way they twist the facts is just unreal. In the Supreme Court they once again stated the Hybrid (Fake) City they are proposing will save one million dollars the only problem is that it will not. The savings is expected because they would opt out of social security payments for the police and firemen. The real story is no police or fire departments have been approved for opting out by the Social Security Administration for years. Another thing they said was the hybrid city was proposed by a citizens Town/ Township Merger Committee, they forgot to say by a hand picked committee lead by a former Town Council President who has a very large contract with the Town. I believe I would call that a conflict of interest. Some of the committee members were ignored and many times the paid for chair just did what he felt like. Far from a real merger committee, but in the eyes of the Town Council just perfect.

Election Day Tuesday November 8th - Vote for Joe

What is the candidate and current officer holder for Fishers Clerk Treasurer hiding? Two debates were held this year, one for the primary and one for the current election. In both cases only one candidate for any Fishers office failed to show up. It was the same person both times the current Fishers Clerk Treasurer. Was she afraid someone was going to ask how come the numbers don’t add up in the Town Financial Report? Was she afraid someone was going ask if Mr. Walter Kelly who donated $5000 to the PAC that funded her campaign was also one of the heads of the CPA firm that does all her office paper work? Maybe someone was going to ask why she lists the value of the uniforms issued to the Firemen and Police offices as income on their federal income taxes? Maybe someone was going to ask how come her office does not accept on line payments, or credit cards, or debit cards or even make change when a citizen of the town want to pay a sewer or tax bill or pay for a permit? Her office requires either a check or exact change. Or could it be that in the thirty years she has been running this office nothing has change except the Town of Fishers grew from a few thousand people to almost 80,000 today.

Maybe we do know why she is in hiding. It is time for a major change in this office, time to bring in someone who understands technology, someone who has worked in government with budgets even larger than the towns, someone who ran a real business, someone who would not hire contributors to his election and someone who is not afraid to answer questions. It is time to vote for a change it is time to vote for Joe Weingarten. Tuesday November 8th vote for Weingarten for Fishers Clerk Treasurer.

Unethical Part Two

I asked the Town of Fishers to provide copies of contracts and payments to the CPA firm that works for the Treasurers Office. Of course I couldn't get the complete data I asked for. How come can't the Clerk Treasurer provide the totals she paid out for the company that does the work for her.But here is what the Town provided.

Clifton Gunderson LLP in 2008 was paid $105185.75
In 2009 they were paid $190006.75
For both 2010 and 2011 the Town did not provide this data. If I had time I would take all the payments that are presented to the Town Council and add up how much they paid. Of course they could have done in a few minutes with their computer system. If elected it will be presented to the public in Jan 2012.

Mr. Walter Kelly who is a principal of this company made a $5,000 donation to the Future of Fishers PAC. This PAC made donations of $17,017.00 to the incumbent Clerk Treasurer, funny how this money goes in a complete circle.

The Town of Fishers Clerk Treasurer via The Future of Fishers Political Action Committee received a contribution of $12,000.00 but if you study the PAC you will find that Mr. Walter Kelly contributed $5,000 to this PAC. Why is this significant because Mr. Kelly is a principle in an Accounting firm that does the work for Ms. Cordell's office. In speaking to a few retired CPAs in the area they all recommended hiring a new CPA firm as they find this highly unethical. Any CPA firm should be at an arms length from the client. One of the retired CPAs said I should, if elected, form an Advisory group for the Clerk Treasurer's Office of retired CPAs and if possible ones who have moved to Fishers from other areas. Great idea and if elected it will happen.

Change or no Change that is the vote

The Clerk Treasurer of Fishers, IN has a sign on the door to her office and I quote "This office does not make change. If you are paying with cash please have the exact amount.
..................Thank you." Also this is very professionally posted in a plastic 3 ring binder holder. To be fair they will take checks. But that is it, checks or exact change. As you can see the Clerk Treasurer is a very consumer friendly office. Up to date in their methods of operation.

In my run for this office I have stated that "If elected we will allow the citizens of Fishers the ability to pay on line, use credit or debit cards, checks, money orders, wire transfers and if they bring cash we will make change if needed." I am sorry but we will not accept live stock for payment.

So it comes down to this, keep the 30 year incumbent in office and keep the 30 year old methods of operation or vote for Joe Weingarten and modernize the office and increase consumer operations as well as efficiencies of the office.

After 30 years it is time for a change. Vote for Joe Weingarten.

The Democratic Party of Hamilton County is very pleased to announce that Joe Weingarten will be their candidate for Fishers Clerk-Treasurer.

Keith Clock in making the announcement stated “Joe Weingarten can bring to this office a wealth of government management experience from his many years with the Federal Government and as a small business owner.” With US Air Force research and development Joe was responsible for a budget of $69 million overseeing an administrative workforce that supported 1,800 engineers. As an engineer he is known worldwide for the development of internal structural criteria for all aircraft and spacecraft. He also was responsible for the development of 20 year out technology plans and numerous organizational planning documents. His experience in management of government functions would be invaluable to the Clerk-Treasurer’s office.

Upon retirement from the Air Force he opened an Apple computer store that in three short years grew to the 13th largest Apple outlet in the nation. Well Sara may very well lose her tea party support after all a true Tea Party person would know their history about Paul Revere’s ride. Mr. Longfellow would be outraged if her were alive today. I bring up his name because I am 99.99% certain Sara has no clue who he is. For those of you who forgot Henry Wadsworth Longfellow a very famous poet who wrote:

Now before Sara makes a fool of herself again Paul did not yell the “British are coming” he said "The Regulars are coming out." Why as not to tip off the people who lived in the area that were pro British as many were.

Hey Sara did they teach you in Wasilla public schools that the earth was only six thousand years old and that men and dinosaurs walked it together? And the reason we don’t have dinosaurs any more is because they missed the boat.

Sara criticized NOAA's sector-based catch-share fisheries management plan by saying local fishermen know better than the federal government how to maintain the fishery. Let’s look at this:
Gulf is not 97% locked up but rather 20% (Energy Information Agency (EIA))
Palin’s claim of $8 billion a day in additional imports is absurd. That would be 80 million barrels at $100 a barrel. Yet the entire world’s consumption is 85 million barrels. So we get 80 and the rest of the world 5. The real number is 200,000 barrels a day. Now at $100 a barrel that is 200 million. Not only is Sara bad at history she skipped her math classes.

Fishers IN Tuesday Primary Election

Folks - Here is a run down of the Scott crew and recommendations on who to vote for Tuesday. Don't forget as Charlie White said - Fishers has funny districts. What this means you can vote for every one of the council seat not just the one you live in. Scott keeps calling those who live in Geist angry. We warned him a few years ago that in an upcoming election we would show the council that we can vote and vote them out of office. They didn't listen to a word said by the people during the annexation. Now that we are part of Fishers isn't it time we showed them when we think of their form of government, so this is the time to show them that we care about our right to vote, our right to have a voice that can be heard. Please tell all your friends all over Fishers it is time to get rid of these people who believe developers have the right to run the community and not the people. Here are the candidate reviews:

Memo to Candidates:

Gay Cordell – Please learn how to add. 88 million plus 5 million does not equal 190 million. Also learn that numbers on one end of a report must match other numbers in the same report in the same category. I am sorry I forgot you were too busy writing up an application for an award as the best whatever you are than to pay attention on the math. Also do you know that as a public servant you serve the people and when you get a request or a question you should provide a response. Even if it is a response that says sorry or I can’t provide an answer to that request. But then again I forgot you were too busy on that award. We have heard that your department has the highest turn over rate in the town in personnel, could that have something to do with your leadership skills. Oh by the way were you too busy to come to the candidate’s debate working on your 2011 award package.

Scott Faultless – It is time you change your story on lowest tax rate. When people are annexed into your town and their property taxes go up 15-30% it kind of means they had a lower tax rate, unless of course you went to the same math school as Gay. Then you keep leaving off all the hidden taxes Fishers charges that other communities don’t. How about an Apple-to-Apple comparison instead of the Apple to Turnip one you are using. So every citizen in the community is paying a higher rate and does not know it. Also Scott isn’t it time you keep your story on a level field, stop trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the citizens. We all know you will be lost if not in power, look how many times you forced your way to be “President” of Council, and now this funny Sham City. Do you think we don’t understand it is a City with Town Government so you can stay in power? Oh by the way Scott isn’t it time to remove the top item on the Town website on government section of the Proposed Geist Unification, you know you have not done any of the things you promised and it is no longer “proposed.” The Fire Station still is not here, the concept of projects for Geist, well just lets say they are somewhere with the Fire Station. By showing this old page we can tell you are still bitter that anyone could question your authority. By the way the false statements on that page are still on that page. And you have done nothing towards the great unification. The only part you have done is raise taxes on the people living in the Geist area.

Eileen Pritchard – Sorry Eileen that you have to sit in front of people and listen to them. We know how hard that is for you. But when sitting in front of your loyal citizens in a public hearing you should not say, “Do we have to listen to this.” Remember the words public hearing. It means you listen to the citizens, understand what they say and consider it in how you vote. I know this is a new concept for you. I am very surprised you even come to the meetings, you could say home and just let Scott vote for you. Also buying votes with parks and sport field’s is a very interesting concept, you know it was the same thing done in Rome a few thousand years ago. Oh I understand if the new group gets elected they are going to change the name of Cyntheanne Park to Peterson Field. Don’t you think that is a fitting tribute?

Stuart Easley – Stu the Poo, you keep reminding people of your great scientific back ground and Lilly ethics, then how come you don’t apply them. Lets see the great economic developments, a hospital which will not pay property taxes, well forget that one, actually since they will not pay taxes and get town services it is a drain on the taxpayers, all the vacant land between Wal-Mart and Sallie May, still vacant. The water park and a new downtown, again smoke and mirrors which is used a lot in the engineering and science community when someone has nothing to offer but talks a lot, do you remember that term. Yet you fell for the City of Faultless concept or are you just playing ball to stay in the power club. Are you the deFacto city development director? If a real Mayor gets elected maybe we will have real development instead of he favorite few who now get to build any strip mall they like and Noblesville has a real mall just feet from Fishers.

Jason Meyer – Hand picked by Scott as a reward for stabbing the people of Fall Creek Township in the back in the Sham City merger talks. Jason I though you were going to cry at one of he debates as you said you care about the people. If you cared you would have stopped the merger that will result in a 30% tax increase to the folks who currently live outside of Fishers. You know the same people who had taken away form them in 2008 the rule of zoning even after they voted not to be covered. Remember the stolen vote by the Town Council. Remember the fake junkyard signs. If you cared maybe the voters would have re-elected you to the Fall Creek Township Board. They remembered and didn’t vote you back on the Township Board. So here you go for the Town Council seat. Oh by the way Jason your campaign manager is a paid consultant of the Town of Fishers. Well so much for your caring and independent voice.

Michael Colby – Mike I know you tried to force Delaware Township into the Sham City, but the other real elected representative of the people understood what Scott was up too. You were a good soldier following the orders of Scott. So your reward when Charlie White was forced to resign was his seat. Great way to get elected, oh excuse me appointed by Scott as a reward for trying. But then you blew your chance for showing that you were one of the Scott Crew by not calling for a real vote by the people for the referendum for the real city. I guess you just fell in line with the others. Then things got a little complicated two of you in the same district. No problem said Scott we will just create a Judge position for the other guy. So what if it costs the town a lot of money and other towns are trying to kill of these courts because they are a losing proposition. That the Supreme Court currently is conducting a study to do away with these courts. You see you and Mr. Henke should have been in the primary for the seat instead of working this back door deal. Sorry Charlie, oh I mean Mike, you have not earned the right to be elected to this seat.
Vote for Monte Chamberlin.

Here comes the Judge- Just one though – Don’t vote for Henke. Pick whichever of the other three, but don’t vote for Henke. He was hand picked by Scott and this waste of money. This court was established for two reasons. First to provide a Judge position for Mr. Henke who has always wanted to be a judge and the conflict with Mike Colby with both of them living in the same district. The other factor is more control by the Town Council. This Court will not just be a traffic Court but also a zoning and enforcement Court. So the TC will have a lot more control over the town.
Vote for Arnold or Delp or Culwell but not for Henke.

30% Property Tax Increase

Homeowners of Geist, did you get a shock in the mail? Most of the property owners got a 30% property tax increase, so say thank you to the Town of Fishers. You have been annexed. Notice all the extra services that you have gotten since you were annexed. Maybe we should have a treasure egg hunt to find them; opps Scott Grinch stole all the eggs. Nothing has changed, all the promises of doing this and that were just that promises and nothing has happened.

Instead any time we say anything, the Town Council’s newspaper bloggers just call us a bunch of angry Geisters. Well Geisters, it is time to take action and you will have your chance on May 3rd.

If you are a registered Republican here is your chance to vote out the entire Council. Almost no one knows this but the way they set up elections was to insure they would get elected by having total at large elections. So while a candidate must live in a set district, every voter in the town votes for all candidates. So you can vote against every single one of the incumbents. It is time to take back this town and vote in a responsible government that listens to the people. It is time to vote in a responsible government that cares about the citizens and not about what the developers want. It is time for all the voters of Fishers to take back this town. Vote against the incumbents.

May 3 primary - Signs, Signs Everywhere.

Its looks like the Town Council is feeling the heat, they are fanning the entire town with their signs. Every strip mall is loaded with signs. Did I say strip malls? Oh yes I remember a long time ago I said the Town Council never met a strip mall they didn’t like. I guess it was true then. They love strip malls and strip mall owners love them.

If you are a Republican it is very important that you go and vote out the incumbents on May 3rd. One reminder you can vote in every district election. So you can vote out all of them. To quote Charlie White, former Town Councilor “Fishers is the only Town in Indiana with these funny districts.” You may be shocked but when you see your ballot you will see all seven Fishers districts and you can vote in all of them. Only in Fishers, it is time for a change. Vote in new people and bring the government back to the citizens.

Brian Bosma Leads House Walkout

My My how soon we forget. In 2001 Mr. Bosma lead a walkout of Republicans to protest redistricting by the Democrats.

I can only guess it is OK when Republicans do it but OMG not when Democrats walk out.

Then again the Indiana constitution allows this and maybe the forefathers did this on purpose to prevent a government that thinks it is in absolute power from doing harm to the state and the citizens of the state.

Stormwater TAX - Another Fishers Sham

The Town of Fishers has mailed you your “Fishers Stormwater Utility” bill. Notice they avoid calling it a tax, notice they avoid calling it part of your property tax. But did you notice the more value of your overall property the higher payment. Doesn’t that sound like a property tax? What it is pure and simple is a way around the property tax cap and a way to tax all of us. Did you get the letter on why we have to pay the tax, but most of us have rain water flow directly from our property into Geist. They claim they need the money for street cleaning, doesn’t that sound like a standard function of a town or city? It does to me.

What has happened the Town of Fishers keeps claiming that they have the lowest tax rates, they are pulling the wool over the eyes of the citizens. They have used fees and other taxes to increase the overall tax rate and to exceed the tax cap. If the Town had to take taxes such as the Stormwater tax and cover the expense with our property taxes they would be in trouble.

Fisherian one of the Bloggers on the Indy Star keeps calling us "angry Geist annexee’s" and that we are trying to convert the good town government to a city and to help others get elected. Maybe, just maybe it is because we have found that they are not that good at telling us the whole story, maybe it is because we know how they operate without caring about the people, maybe it is because we understand how they raise taxes without calling them taxes and maybe its because we saw them in real action during the annexation process.

It is time for everyone in the Town of Fishers to throw out the current Council and get new blood in office to fix what they have done over the years.

I have just read the report by the Town? Township Merger Committee. This is a joke and insult to the people of the community.
The first 5 out of 12 pages are boilerplate they say nothing. I.e. who is on the committee, under what law it was established, etc.
Then we get to the new City of Fishers and first on tap is the new Mayor who shall be elected by the City Council for a four year term and here is the fishy part they openly state that the laws that govern a Town President will be the same laws that govern this new “City Mayor” in other words no change. Then we get a City Manager who will have a contract for the same four years and can only be fired by 7 of the 9 city counselors. First mention of 9 counselors? Then we get a City Controller who has to be appointed by 5 counselor after a recommendation by the City Manager and can only be removed by 7 counselors.

Now we get to the new Council of a Mayor and 8 counselors, total 9 separate districts. The two new counselors until the next election in 2015 shall be the Fall Creek Trustee and the other counselor is very confusing, either the County Commissioner appoint or the President of the Township Advisory Board.

Hers comes the best line in the entire report to show this is a sham.

“Except as described elsewhere herein, as of the Effective Date, the City of Fishers shall be governed and administered as a “Town” as the term is defined under Indiana Law. The only change will be that “poor relief” will become another department under the City Manager.

Fishers Planning or Lack off and Charlie again.

Lets start with Charlie White, the former Fishers Town Council member and current Candidate for Secretary of State. Well the poor fellow is already up on charges for voter fraud and here he goes again with another screw up. This time he sent out mailers with out the required statement -Approved and Paid for...." This is the disclaimer requirement that goes on everything when you are running for office. As a candidate it is easy to forget to put it on everything, but as the candidate for the office that overseas elections - no way. Sorry Charlie but you sure show you don't care about details and it is important at the state level, you not on the screw up Town Council anymore.

Speaking of the Town Council they are up to no good again. They are going into high speed emergency mode and yesterday they started to show maps for identifying new districts for the council members, present a new budget and try and approve a town court.

Now all of sudden they realize they annexed Geist and have to include it in their map. Good planning Fishers, or did they have these maps for months and just hide them from the public. By the way the newspaper reports failed to tell us about "Option 1." Option 1? Yes another map not presented, but don't be surprised if it pops up tonight. You see the problem is the way the new map is drawn, two of the council members are in the same district, which means one has to go. Option 1 map all the council members are protected in their own districts but the one women on the council will have massive problems being elected. She would be in Geist and the people of Geist will remember what she did to them in the annexation. Option1 might have the Council members a little worried, if Eileen gets mad at them, she controls the political PAC with the pot of money they use for elections. What would she so?

Next they want to set up a court. Of course everyone is losing money running courts but Scottie says they will make money. But I think their are another couple reasons. Maybe he wants be the judge? If he see the real City coming he knows his days as king are over. Or he has a buddy that wants to be Judge and it also gives him more control. In either case the formation of a court should have been out in front with public discussion, but not in Fishers. Another example of just do as Scottie wants. Then the budget, has anyone seen it ahead of today, and then approved today, once again without any public input or discussion.

And of course the merger committee meeting will approve the Sham City once again at break neck speed and without and real input from anyone nor do they care even what some of the committee members say. Just push it through and let Scottie continue his total control of the Town or Sham City. Violate whatever laws you want, it does not matter if your name is Charlie or Scottie.

October 28, 2010 busy day in Fishers.

This Thursday, October 28, 2010, is going to be rather busy. The Merger (ShamCity) committee meets, Fall Creek Township Board meets and Fishers Town Council meets. From what I hear the Sham Committee will try and recommend its new form of government, but at the same time some of the subcommittees have not even been given time to study the question. This shows how the Town Council is controlling the committee and could care less about the entire process or even if it makes sense. The proposal is for a soft mayor elected by the new city council. Nothing new from what we have today except the name. Every thing stays the same. Remember the old TV show where they came out and said the names of the innocent have been changed to protect them, well in this case the names of the guilty have been changed to allow them to continue in office. They continue to ignore the requirement for public input.

Which brings me to Charlie White – Todd Rokita failed to let people know that he donated $717.62 to Mr. White’s campaign when he declined to continue his investigation by his office. Another major failure of ethics by another elected official.

Speaking of ethics- All three of the Fall Creek Board of Advisors seem to forget that they need to file conflict of interest forms. I have already called out Mr. Reuter and now he no longer votes on matters concerning the Town of Fishers. But the other two have failed to file the proper paperwork, Jason Meyer is also on the Fishers Redevelopment Commission and who is his employer, Dan Rieke has failed to list that he is on the Board of SPORTS who has benefited from Fishers Town spending for ball fields and parks for them as well as good deals on office space. It is time for the other two to fess up. It is also time for them to be honest in their dealings with the people who live in this area. What we needed in this state is an independent board of investigation to go after people who believe ethical behavior does not apply to them.

Fishers Town Council is going to redistrict this Thursday to I gather take care of Mike Colby who was elected to replace Charlie White. You see he does not live in the proper district. I also have to wonder what else they are going to gerrymander. What is interesting they are going to have to do this again very soon based on the new census. So why not waste money on new maps that are good for two months? Of course that way you take care of one of your own, who cares about tax payers. They are also going to approve a new budget. Try and find out anything about this, you won’t. Another secret deal in the works? We will find out after it is published. It is not even in the published packet for the Thursday meeting.

Hey Charlie - Where do you live?

I have been watching the drama unfold of Charlie White, the Republican candidate for Indiana Secretary of State, as he tries to slips past election fraud charges. Its a game that is rather easy in Hamilton County Indiana, but now he has the entire state watching him. You see Charlie, moved but forgot to tell anyone he moved, of course he had a house warming party and everyone knew he moved, except the general public. But then again the party in power didn't seem to care, after all it was Charlie the head of the County Republicans. Then Charlie also held onto to his seat on the Fishers Town Council and they all knew but not one word. He collected $1,000.00 a month while he was illegally seated on the Council from the day he moved out of his district. And now he Town attorney says it didn't matter in the passing of laws and spending of Town money. I kind of think it does. But its just Charlie. I have noticed the Town Attorney seems to make up rulings and thinks what he says is law. One day someone will challenge him in court and it will not be a pretty picture.

Well the County Prosecutor was going to do her usual nothing but the pressure got so great so she is going to get a special prosecutor and by the time they appoint one and the new special prosecutor figures out where Hamilton County is the election will be over. But its Hamilton County and you wouldn't expect anything less. This is the same prosecutor who is protecting Ms. Richardson, the election commissioner and candidate for office who runs her own election. After all its Hamilton County and you wouldn't expect anything less.

Well Charlie you namesake just doesn't measure up to Starkist and you know you don't measure up to hold an office of Trust of the People.

To the leaders of Hamilton County I am sorry but I expect you live within the laws of the land and to meet a very high standard. So far most of you have only one goal --staying in power and you don't seem to care about the people you govern.

The Great Fishers, IN Sham.

The latest in the merger committee to try and keep Scott in power and the council the same. They are proposing a new form of government that does not exist in Indiana and may not be allowed but its Fishers and they do as they please. The new city has 9 elected councilmen, at large, and they in turn elect a Mayor. The elected Clerk/Treasurer becomes a appointed Controller. Actually this is the same as the current Town Council but is called a City and the Council President becomes a "weak Mayor." So the circle is now complete no accountability at all. Just one happy family under the total control of weak Mayor Scott. Of course this comes from the Sham Merger Committee that is railroading this along for Mayor Scott. I guess all of you on the committee should be ashamed of yourselves for being part of this game under the direction of the Town.

I can only guess all of you skipped school during civic class.So here is a lesson for you.

In the year 1215 the King John recognized the right of the barons to petition the crown with the signing of the Maga Carta, this grew in time to the right to petition Parliament and the House of Commons. On July 4, 1776 our forefathers said: "In every state of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people." And King George III ignored the petitions of his people. Our founding fathers made sure this concept would live on forever and its importance can't be overlooked in that it became the "First Amendment" of our Constitution. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." And in 1925 the Supreme Court held that this applied to state and local governments.

With the exception it appears of Fishers Indiana. We have submitted a legal petition to call for a vote and it is time to place this on the ballot without delay. But in Fishers they do as they please and even the Constitution of the United States does not apply. See you in Court.

As a candidate running for state office and I find that people have become so hot headed they can’t think and follow the latest jargon or fad without thinking. Some want to end taxes but don’t tell me how they will pay to repair the roads or make sure gas lines don’t burst. Some base their entire vote on one issue and don’t care about what any other issue from that candidate. Some are unwilling to listen and drown out anything anyone else wants to say. It is their way and no other. Folks this is not a sporting event for your old high school but that is how many are acting. Its not just people the ones in office sometimes act as if it is their god given right to remain in office forever.

We need people who think, who are willing to work together to find solutions. We should vote out of office those that refuse to work with those of other parties, we should vote for the candidate that we agree with on most items and realize we are not going to agree 100%. If the person running for office agrees with you 100% they are lying. Don’t vote for them. If they won’t listen to you and only speak, don’t vote for them. You want someone you can sit down with alone and have a discussion. If they have been in office forever and don’t do anything for you and your neighbors vote them out, don’t vote for them because you are in the same party. Maybe your party need a kick in the ….

What I fear is that we are moving away from what I have written above. We are moving more and more to a house divided and that they would rather see failure of the other side than work for the common good. It is time we became united again and have a responsible government at all levels.

This is why I running. I have worked in the federal government where we worked together to find answers, not to run away from problems. I will not agree with you 100% and you will not agree with me 100% but I am willing to sit down and talk and listen. We still may not agree but I will tell you why. But we will talk. Go try and talk to your current elected officials. I think you will find rather fast they don't care at all what you say. I am also running against a machine that will do anything to stay in power. To violate state laws and to be unethical. Is that the kind of government you want. I doubt it. So please think for this November. Don't just push the party button ask question find out about the candidates and vote as if your life depends on it, because it does.

Well folks welcome to Hamilton County where the political machine is alive and well. Where the system keeps a tight control of the people and they don't even know it. Where the elected officials will do anything to stay in power. Here are a few examples:

The current 29th State Representative is running for her re-election again and can you believe she is running the election, yes that is right she is the Election Administrator for the County and see nothing wrong in running her own election. Wait you say, isn't that against the law. Of course it is, but the County Prosecutor is her good friend and has even contributed to her campaign, so needless to say she doesn't enforce the law. Nor does the State Attorney General or does the State Election Commission, all of who have had formal complaints filed against this violation you see they all belong to the same party. Then to top it off her office is within feet of the early and absentee voting booths. Of course this is ok, you see she does not wear a name tag, or at least this is what the County Clerk said. So if you don't wear your name tag and sit in the polling area is that allowed anywhere but in Hamilton County, Indiana? Of course the electioneering law does not apply if you are not wearing your name tag, also forgot the $35,000 color newsletters she sends out to the voters at state expense which are also a joke. She sends these out on what a great job she has done and tells us about laws that were passed. You know nothing in her newsletters are new, they have all been covered in the press and local TV news and in some cases months ago. I am sure the newsletters have nothing to do with getting votes and I am sure her big photograph on them is not needed, since she does not wear a name tag. Or maybe doesn't need a name tag since everyone see's her photo a number of times a year. Kathy Richardson its time you pick one job- do you want to be a State Representative and get elected in a fair and open election or do you want to be the County Election Commissioner, or are you going to continue to violate state laws and be both?

Next we have the small town of Fishers, IN. For those of you in other areas, Fishers is a tiny little town of 75,000 people, or at least the Town Council wants you to think that and will stop at anything to prevent the town from becoming a city. Well a bunch of folks got together and sign a petition calling on the Town Council to put up to a vote should the town remain a town or become a city. But if the town becomes a city we would have new elections by districts and a Mayor. Right now they have elections town wide at large, making it almost impossible for someone other than the current council from getting elected. Mayor, who would want someone responsible, they vote one of themselves to be council president and while in theory it should rotate, one guy keeps getting the office. Back to the petition, State law says they have to have a vote if the citizens present a petition, but not when, so the Town Council will not set a voting date, the year 2050 has been mentioned. What is even more crazy is that one of the Town Council members is now running for the Indiana Secretary of State, so he would be in charge of voting for the state. So here is a guy who helped block voting by the people in his own town. What will he do in the entire state. Maybe Mr. Charles White wants to spread the Hamilton County politics all over the state.

Fisher's enacts another hidden tax.

Charlie White proudly says “We continue to look for new, and sometimes innovative, ways to generate revenues; especially those that do increase the burden on existing residents.” Now how dumb does Charlie and the others on the Town Council think we all are. An impact fee on a new home being built means a 20-30 year tax on the people moving into that home. Do any of you think the developer is going to absorb that fee out of the goodness of their heart? Give me a break.

Here is how this no tax works, for the average home the road and bridge fee is $2,275.29. Add 15% to that for the builder’s overhead and it is now $2616.58. Now add that your mortgage for 30 years. The median home price is $200,830. So lets add the tax to that amount and the median now is $203446.58. What does this do to the home owner, first it raises how much they have to put down as their down payment on the purchase and then they have to pay this fee over the life of the mortgage.

So here are some numbers on our $200,000 home, which is now our $202,275. Home.

200,000 40,000 858.91 $309,207.60
202,275 40,455 868.68 $312724.80

So now our $2275.29 tax becomes $3972.20. Actually it is a hidden property tax but the Town leaders want you to believe you have the lowest property tax around. Nice they get the developers and the banks to collect their tax for them. On top of that they continue to make you believe you are not paying a higher property tax.

Oh by the way, Charlie is very wrong, you see most of you living in Fishers had to also pay an impact fee when you built your home, so you are also paying this hidden tax via your mortgage. So it is not just a new fee on new homes. Buying an older home, that fee is in the selling price, it just won’t go away. Just another one of Fishers hidden taxes to make you think your property taxes are low.

The Merger Committee is starting to show its ugly side with political payoffs coming to the surface.

Jeff Hern who is the heir to the Fall Creek Trustee Position, since he won the primary, will be offered a position on the "new" council after the merger.

Dan Rieke who is the only current Member of the Board of Trustees that won at the primary will be offered the other open position on the new Council.

So the payoffs are in. Vote for the merger, no matter what they come up with and you will be rewarded. They haven't even gotten close to the finish on what this new merger would be and already they are handing out the favors to blind supporters.

The Town of Fishers has entered into an agreement with the Hamilton Southeastern School system to do snow removal and grass cutting.

The Town of Fishers is going to do their own maintenance work on its vehicles instead of taking it to a dealer of service center.

On the surface these look like good ideas, but just like the oil is not only the top of the water, we should look below the surface.

In the Wall Street Journal, June 10, 2010 on page 6A is an article that points out that government workers cost more than private industry and not by a little. It is about $12 more an hour.

So here we have a Republican run government taking jobs from the private sector and increasing government size. Instead of reducing government.

Maybe it’s a way of transferring funds from HSE to Fishers behind everyone’s back.
I have to wonder since the HSE’s Chief Financial Office is also a paid consultant to the Town of Fishers and failed to list this on his conflict of Interest form.

Kathy Kreag Richardson Wasting Tax Dollars Again.

Did you get Kathy’s Let’s Stay Connected? Her Legislative Report 2010. A prime example of a big waste of taxpayers money, at a time when the money could be better spent on education or jobs. The last time I checked on one of these mailings it cost around $35,000. If you believe in reducing government spending you should mad as hell about this.

Kathy Kreag Richardson is the current State Representative form the 29th District and also the Elections Commissioner for Hamilton County and therefore she runs her own election. Only in third world countries and Hamilton County, Indiana do people run their own elections.

No Democracy in Fishers, IN

No democracy in Fishers, IN. A certified petition was submitted to the Town of Fishers, Indiana on May 3, 2010 calling for an election to determine if the Town should become a City. By May 6th Mr. Scott Faultless, President of Town Council stated that they might not bring up this up for a vote this year.

I guess this is another example of where the government of Fishers believes it is above the concepts of democracy. This is clearly an abuse of power by Mr. Faultless and the gang of seven. Are they so afraid of losing power they will go to any length to keep it? Even if this comes up for a vote later by delaying it until next year they gain five more years in power. Mr. Faultless and fellow Council Members if you do this you will show the entire world that you are no better than a dictator in a third world country. Don’t let people vote, kept yourselves in power at any cost. If Mr. Faultless never intended to let this to be on the ballot how come he set up a committee of 44 people to study the concept/differences between a Town and City, had them come to about a dozen meetings, and hire Mr. Steve Carter, former Secretary of State as its facilitator. Was this just for show? It appears that way now. Now he wants a Township Merger Plan to go first. This merger concept came up as a blatant attempt to try and stop the City-Yes vote. The merger has already been voted down by Delaware Township and not voted on by Fall Creek. Even if approved by Fall Creek, other studies, if done properly, in other locations of the state have taken a year to be completed. Knowing the actions of this Council the odds are the study is already written and any study would be a sham. That is the only way they could even get it on the ballot by this November.

Now all of a sudden the Town has scheduled a Joint meeting with the Township Board on May 10,2010. Here is what is going to happen. At that meeting both the Town and Township will adopt resolutions to form study committees to look at the merger. They have to take 30 days for people to apply to be on the study committees, why brother, they already know who is going to be hand picked to be on the committees. Elsewhere in this state when mergers came up, the committees took the full year allowed by law to come up with their recommendations. I am giving odds that this study will be accomplished in record time. The odds are it is already written. That is the only way Fishers could then hold two public hearings in time for a deadline of September 2, 2010 to get this on the ballot. The public then votes on the merger plan. Now here is where Fishers is not certain of what might happen. They have to get approval from the people who live in the un-incorporated area of Fishers independent of those who live in Fishers. Of course the plan will talk in glowing terms about how this will reduce the size of government and be more efficient, bah, bah, bah. It will leave off the increase in fees for those in the un-incorporated area which is actually a hidden tax increase.

Now lets look at the City-Yes vote and why the Town Council is doing this merger. In their thinking, one of two things happen. If they get the merger, they will form a new form of government of a soft city, a city with a Mayor that is actually the head of the City Council, just like the Town Council with its Council President. A figure head Mayor with almost no power, no checks and balances that a real City brings. They will go to 9 Councilors instead of the 7 now and may or may not have set districts. They will then claimed they have created a City and there is no need for the City Yes vote. Plan B if the merger is killed by the voters. The City Yes vote will then be placed on the ballot in November 2011. Even if approved by state law it would not go into effect until 2015 which is the next city election. That would keep them in office until 2015. If the City Yes is on the ballot this year and approved the new City goes into effect in 2011. But the Town Council is in fear the voters will approve the new City and therefore they want to keep it off the ballot at any costs.

Mr. Faultless and other members of Council as elected officials of the Citizens of Fishers you should put aside your personal bias and do what is expected of you in the representation of the citizens. If you can’t exercise your duties, you should resign immediately. If you follow through with this action to prevent a vote and take these actions you are throwing it in the face of all the people who have fought and shed blood for this nation since July 4th 1776. Your actions for this merger is a clear sign that you can’t be trusted as representatives of the people, you are not representatives of the citizens of Fishers, but rather of a very special interest group, your self’s.

Both Republicans and Democrat this is not an issue of either party, this is an issue overrides the concept of parties. It is an issue of the people petitioning their government and a government that ignores the petition.

I urge everyone to call and e-mail members of the Town Council and tell them how wrong this is. Even if you don’t live in Fishers, IN. Tell them what you think of running a government that only wants to keep itself in power.

I have called for the removal of Ms. Kathy Richardson as the Election Administrator of Hamilton County Indiana. How would you like to run against someone who controls the election? While she might be the most honest person in the county, it is just wrong and if she is honest and upright she should choose between being an Election Administrator or a State Representative but she should not be both. Call for removal of Kathy Richardson as Hamilton County Election Administrator

Democrat Joe Weingarten, candidate for the 29th District State Representative, has called for the immediate removal of Ms. Kathy Richardson as the Hamilton County Election Administrator. He stated, “Only in third world countries and Hamilton County does someone run their own election.” Ms. Richardson is a candidate for 29th District State Representative in this election and her name appears on the May Ballot.

He is also requesting an investigation of electioneering by Ms. Richardson as she is within the poling place for absentee ballots and this may be in violation of Indiana Code 3-14-3-16. Also Ms. Richardson is involved in the counting of ballots and this may also be in violation of Indiana Code 3-14-2-23.

Mr. Weingarten has also requested that the Indiana Attorney General be requested to rule on the Ms. Richardson holding two offices in different branches of government at the same time. As a Representative she is an elected official, in the Legislative branch, as the Election Administrator she is within the judicial branch. She is on the Election and Apportionment; Legislative Council Committee in the Indiana House and thus is engaged in writing laws that direct her job function. This may be prohibited under the Indiana Constitution as a Dual Office Holding.

In the past Ms. Richardson has been elected to office while the Election Administrator and Mr. Weingarten has asked that the investigations be conducted into past elections. With the possibility that she be declared ineligible to serve.

1. I request that Ms. Peggy Beaver immediately remove Ms. Kathy Richardson from her position as Election Administrator in accordance with Indiana Code IC3-6-5-24:
Candidates for elected office; service as deputy election commissioner or employment by county board
Sec. 24. A person who is a candidate for elected office may not be:
(1) appointed as a deputy election commissioner; or
(2) employed by a county election board.
If a deputy election commissioner or employee of a county election board becomes a candidate for elected office, the person may not continue to serve as a deputy election commissioner or employee of a county election board.
As added by P.L.5-1986, SEC.2. Amended by P.L.3-1987, SEC.27.

Ms. Richardson as the Election Administrator is directly employed to:
The Elections Office oversees the administration of all elections, candidate filings and campaign finance. The Elections Office, along with the County Commissioners, manages all polling place assignments and maintains all precinct information.

This could place her in a position in violation of state statue and a conflict of interest. In addition Ms. Richardson is currently engaged in Electioneering by being within the polling area as outlined in Paragraph 3 below.

2. I request an investigation by the Indiana State Police, Indiana Board of Elections and the State Attorney General into conduct by Ms. Richardson in past elections and this current primary. Conflict of Interest between Sheriff Doug Carter and Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp as contributors of campaign funds to Ms. Richardson exclude them or their offices from any investigation. Monetary contributions to Ms Richardson’s campaigns for many years by Ms. Peggy Beaver and as her supervisor should exclude her from any investigation. In addition Ms. Beaver as her you may be a subject of questioning in any investigation. Further delays of over two years in previous investigations also show a deliberate attempt to derail any investigation. Ms. Richardson may have committed a Class D Felony under IC 3-14-2-23 by handling Ballots while a Candidate for Office and therefore she should not have received any ballots for counting. Request that this investigation include but not be limited to the last election but all elections in which she was a candidate and held the position of Election Administrator. I further request a special prosecutor without ties to Hamilton County be appointed for this investigation.

3. I request an investigation by the Indiana State Police, Indiana Board of Elections and the State Attorney General into conduct by Ms. Richardson in past elections and the current primary relative to Electioneering in accordance with IC 3-14-3-16. The Hamilton Count Board of Elections has a Conflict of Interest in that in the past complaints have been lodged and your Board has found that Ms. Richardson because she was not wearing a name tag was not electioneering. The lack of a nametag is not discussed anywhere in Indiana Code. Ms. Richardson is well known and her picture routinely appears in the press and flyers she mails to the voting public. Conflict of Interest between Sheriff Doug Carter, Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp and Ms. Peggy Beaver as contributors of campaign funds to Ms. Richardson exclude them or their offices from any investigation. Ms. Richardson may have committed a Class A misdemeanor. Ms. Richardson is within the Polls and Chute area during the election and: (2) within an area in the office of the circuit court clerk or a satellite office of the circuit court clerk established under IC 3-11-10-26.3 used by an absentee voter board to permit an individual to cast an absentee ballot; or
(3) except for a voter who is:
(A) the person’s spouse;
(B) an incapacitated person (as defined in IC 29-3-1-7.5) for whom the person has been appointed the guardian (as defined in IC 29-3-1-6); or
(C) a member of the person’s household; in the presence of a voter whom the person knows possesses an absentee ballot provided to the voter in accordance with Indiana law;
In addition when a person comes to exercise an absentee ballot or vote early they enter the election office and directly in front of them is Ms. Richardson’s work area and a large sign that states “KATHY.” She was in clear view and even waved to me when I submitted my absentee ballot. Complaints of her electioneer have been ignored by the Hamilton County Board of Elections and the Indiana Board of Elections. It is time for a special prosecutor without ties to Hamilton County be appointed to conduct an investigation.

4. Dual Office holding. Under the Indiana Constitution you are not permitted to hold two lucrative offices in the state at the same time. Ms. Richardson was found to be part of the Judicial branch of government as a result of an investigation of a complaint filed under Hatch Act. She is elected to the Legislative branch of the government. Under Article III, Section 1 it prohibits a person charged with official duties under one of the departments from exercising the functions of another department. Ms. Richardson has voted on Bills concerning election law as a State Representative. Further a conflict of interest is clear in her being on the Elections and Apportionment; Legislative Council Committee of the House. I request that you request the Attorney General to rule on this matter.

5. I request the remaining members of the Hamilton County Election Board meet to rule on the following. In accordance with IC 3-12-11-1 Ms. Richardson should is declared ineligible to serve, as State Representative for violations shown above and her certificate of election be declared null and void.

I request that both addresses remove your self’s from any hearing and review of this complaint in view of your contributions to her campaigns for office over the years. This places you in conflict to render a fair opinion or in the case of Ms. Peggy Beaver to vote on this matter as a member of the Election Board.

Running for Fall Creek Township Trustee is all of a sudden the biggest run in town.

Let's look at Jeff Hern he has signs everywhere and as a very famous saying in government goes, follow the money. Well Jeff is being paid off, oh excuse me, being supported by the developers of the area according to his financial paperwork.

Next when you submit your paper's to run for office and that office is within the Fisher's Town limits you get this nasty letter about where you can't put signs. Somehow signs vanish but Jeff's are still in the illegal rights of way. I know in the last election some of my signs that were fully legal were pulled by Fishers. But Jeff signs must have a shield around them that protects them from the Fishers enforcers. Maybe NASA could use it.

Now Jeff has some fancy words on what he wants to do and if you read them carefully, you will find he is a pawn for the Town to merge the Township into the Town. That would be a great deal for him. You see when the merger takes effect, he continues in his job with full pay and no work what so ever. They just continue to sent him his paycheck until the four year term runs out. No wonder he wants the job. Get elected, do away with your position and continue to get paid for four years. Sound like something the Fishers Town Council would use as a payoff to grab a million dollar reserve held by the township.

While I am at it, the same thing is happening in Delaware Township with another Town pawn, Mike Colby. Delaware also has a million dollar reserve. So I am thinking maybe we should get rid of the Town and let the current Township Trustees run the town, they seem to do a better job.

We all agree on this one.

Fishers Secret Deals to Kill Delaware and Fall Creek Townships

Merger of Town of Fishers, Fall Creek Township and Delaware Township.

An overflowing crowd and over 95% voiced opposition to the plan and then the Township Board followed the Fishers Town Council tradition of approving the resolution to start the process. Ignore the citizens.

You have to wonder how come all of a sudden three elected bodies have a coordinated process to merge the governments and to do so on what I would have to call an emergency process.

All of a sudden the Township Board post an emergency 48 hour notice of this discussion, Delaware Township Board President does not even do that much and tries to push the same a week ago. The FC Board ignored over 95% of the people in the discussion and approved the first step. Just like the Fishers Town Council make up your minds in secret meetings and ignore the public.

Also they tabled the Fire Contract so an attorney could look it over and but when asked to have an attorney look over this resolution they didn’t have time.

Secret meetings, back door deals, sure sounds like it, in the true Fishers tradition.

The discussion by the three board members makes this sound even more like a back door event. Mr. Meyers said he wrote the resolution that morning, that means the other two Board members didn't even see it until that day and now they have to rush to approve it. No attorney to review it, has three different governments listed in the resolutions, and of course this emergency treatment.

One of the reasons for the merger better and more efficient government. They said the Township Trustee was costing to much with employee expense and the budget was too high and cost to manage the poor relief was 100%. Of course they lumped the entire poor relief into one basket and called that the entire budget, left out everything else. Wait what happened to everything else, I guess it does not matter; oh I forgot do you know the Board has the responsibility for Budget approval and direction to the Trustee. I guess these three members must have been asleep at the wheel for the past three and one-half years and now it’s an emergency to remove the government. I have to wonder what they were promised by the Fishers Town big shots to do this. Another secret deal!!!!

I believe Fishers Town Council wants too keep firm control of the Swiss cheese areas and the un-incorporated areas and also all the tax dollars without having to provide full services that an annexation would entail. A merger of the Townships would accomplish this and they would also get all the money in the Township funds and land and buildings owned by the Townships. They would also get the tax dollars. It’s a game of tax grab and we all know how this is the primary goal in Fishers.

They have failed in their job as members of the Board and it is time for the voters to remove them in the upcoming primary. It is time to put people into the position who care.

Another fake reason for the merger is that in time the State will abolish the Townships. Last I heard this died in the House and died before in the house and the odds are will die again in the house. But the three wise men of the Board are certain it will pass. The reason it keeps dieing is that Townships make sense, but then again this Board does not make sense. Only the Governor wants them dead, the same Governor who is killing the school systems throughout the state.

Also do it just before an election because they know their time is up, people are tied of ineffective elected officials. Let the voters put three people in who care, and remove current three people who don’t.

For those of you in Delaware Township, you have only one person behind your secret deal and he is known to be in lock step with whatever Fishers tells him to do. The other two Board members have a better understanding of what is going on. The two long standing members of your board need your support to stop the Fishers game plan.

OK so Indiana now will allow people to have a gun in a private parking lot in a locked car. Someone just got fired and it was very bitter, he is fuming and walks to his car, several minutes later shots are heard and his former boss is now dead.

I am believer in the right to bear arms but we have limits everywhere on that right, you don’t carry a gun into a school or be dumb enough into a bank. In many states on the front of a business you may see it posted “No Firearms Allow” but not now in Indiana we are allowing a person to exceed the rights of a property owner. This comes down to who has more rights the person who owns a property or a person who owns a gun. I believe the state has made a mistake by allowing a gun owner to exceed the rights of the property owner. As a property owner you should have the right to post rules concerning your property.

I guess after a few murders the state may look at this again.

Fisher's Secret Caucus -

Fisher’s holds secret meeting plots overthrow of Township Governments

In mid January the Fishers seven met with some members of Delaware and Fall Creek Township’s Boards in secret. My sources tell me they are calling it a “caucus” and therefore legal under Indiana law. But wait a caucus what happened to inviting all of your party to a caucus or was this limited caucus to develop a plan to over throw two government units that provide representation and services to citizens.

Slowly details are leaking out of who was at the meeting and what they are planning. At a recent meeting of the Delaware Township Board – Mr. Mike Colby all of a sudden reads a motion that only someone like Doug Church could have written asking for a study towards a merger of the Township with the Town of Fishers and Fall Creek Township. All of a sudden this pops up? Give me a break. On top of that it was not on the agenda listed in the newspaper. Was Mike trying to do an end run? Looks like it. Mr. Colby appears to be a voice of the Town, in fact a loud voice. Maybe he wants to replace Charlie White and so he is paying his dues by following orders of the gang. I also have to wonder how Mr. Colby in his proposal can speak for those of us in Fall Creek Township or was that part of the agreement with the two members of the Fall Creek Township Board who also were at this fake caucus.

I have to wonder if Charlie White who wants to become Secretary of State was at the meeting after all he is one of the gang of seven. If not Charlie do you condone fake caucus meetings?

Note to the people who want to keep Fishers a Town. Is this the type of secretive government you want? Behind closed doors, using terms like caucus to hide and plot?

Isn’t it time to have an open government?

Did you know that Dan Burton voted against the Recovery Act. But when it became law how much money did Dan ask for, for this district. He has bad mouth the Act but takes credit for all the Federal Funds coming here. It’s time to show Dan the door.

I also heard that Dan flipped some land for a big profit and the Town of Fishers bought it to build a park, actually a sports complex for SPORTS in the middle of nowhere. How much did Dan make off the taxpayers and why did the Town of Fishers buy that land? You have to wonder, at least I do.

It’s time to show Dan the door. It’s time to ask a lot of questions.

O'Charley's - The big profit grab.

You know the restaurant chain. They are having a special 2 meals for $14.99 as their ad blares across the airwaves, but as a footnote they say you can have one for $7.49. Now I know most people can’t do math, but being a world famous aerospace engineer I will do it for you. Two times $7.49 is $14.98, so how come O'Charley's is charging you more if you buy two, I know it’s only a penny, but it is wrong. I contacted O'Charley's and got a thank you for your interest reply.

I asked that they donate the excess penny profit to charity, no answer to that one. So everyone pass the word on every internet site you know what O'Charley's is up to and lets force them to cough up all those pennies to a worthwhile cause. Or maybe some class action lawyer will be going to dinner tonight and ordering two meals for $14.99. That would cost O'Charley's even more.

Mitch was also not available for comment, maybe he was too busy working the back rooms in his run for president.

The Fishers Medical Complex Flop

In today’s Indy Star (2/24/10) on the front page is a great story about a vision by IU and Clarian to build a life science campus, the only problem its downtown in Indy. Of course the Town of Fishers has proposed a medical complex of some sort at Exit 10. But with this announcement I know where all the money and buildings will be going and it is not exit 10. Maybe, just maybe if we had a Mayor, a focal point, someone could have talked to IU in advance. Another lost deal for Fishers in the making. All that the Town will succeed to do is upset the people who live in the re-zoned area and once again nothing will happen.

What no welcome letter? I guess not after all we don’t feel welcome.

No instruction letter? It not like we are moving in but you have taken over our area.

How about a letter or newspaper article on what to do as a new citizen of the Town of Fishers:

One thing comes to mind – I heard we have to get a permit for an alarm system. Is this true, where and how?

The day after I wrote this a sort of Welcome Letter arrived. But still does not answer many of the questions I posted. So Town officials how about the information other than what you will and will not be doing.

Comcast the new Evil Empire

For years Microsoft was called the “Evil Empire” well I think the title has transferred to Comcast. The problem is that Comcast controls the cable in our area and we don’t have any competition. No other cable company can come into the area yet they can do almost as they please.

Here is the latest from the evil doers.

Comcast is going to charge everyone $6.95 per TV in their home for a digital converter box. Even if you have a digital TV. This will start later this spring. They told me it was due to government requirements. I contacted the FCC and they said they did not have any such requirement. I contacted the Indiana Utility Commission and did not know of any such requirement. They even wanted me to fax them the copy of the notice I got.

Sounds like just a way for Comcast to raise rates. How many TV’s do you have in your house?

Where is our government to control an activity that has a monopoly?

Miss Piggy here, have any of you guys been following the Fishers Town Government, they are located in the State of Indiana. Well, they want to throw me out of town. I can’t believe it. After all Indiana is one of the CORN states. The state government keeps saying they are the farmer’s friends, well I guess not in Fishers. You see they recently extended their zoning beyond the town limits and this is an area with small farms and large home lots. The people living in this area even voted to keep them out, but they ignored that. Not much has changed for years but the town’s un-represantative; elected officials want total control for their friends in land development. So that means they need to drive out all the small farmers and of course all of us need to leave.

How dare they want to force me the famous Miss Piggy out of my home. My attorney Kermit is looking into the matter. He has already found the following and is going to ask the Farm Bureau to come to the aid of all of us.

(e) A county or municipality may not, through the county or municipality's zoning authority, do any of the following:
(1) Terminate an agricultural nonconforming use if the agricultural nonconforming use has been maintained for at least any three (3) year period in a five (5) year period.
(2) Restrict an agricultural nonconforming use.
(3) Require any of the following for the agricultural nonconforming use of the land:
(A) A variance for the land.
(B) A special exception for the land.
(C) A special use for the land.
(D) A contingent use for the land.
(E) A conditional use for the land.

What’s next, are they going to limit people to one dog or cat per household? Or maybe no dogs, or cats. Since pigs, cows, goats, horses are all going to be gone. BTW - you 4H kids, I wonder if the Town Council even realized what this does to you. I doubt it. Maybe Hamilton County need to take back the zoning since Fishers has no clue how to be a good government for the people.

Texting away in all the wrong places

We all know that texting is very dangerous when driving and the State of Indiana has restriction on young drivers. This needs to be expanded to include all drivers and one additional group. During a Fishers Town Council Meeting one member was seen texting during the discussions. Is it that boring? Well I guess it must be since everything appears to have been decided in advance and she had to sit through the discussions and the motions of doing something.

So members of the General Assembly I know this is a short session and you all want to get away from doing real work at the statehouse, but how about a law on texting? No texting by any driver and no texting by an elected officials when sitting in session.

Indiana Senate Bill 80 - Something Smart

Got an e-mail from State Senator Connie Lawson titled “Objective Redistricting Reforms Pass Senate”

One of her objectives in Senate Bill 80 is “Simply-shaped, compact districts.”

While that one caught my eye first, here is the total list of items:
• Preservation of traditional neighborhoods;
• Preservation of local communities of interests;
• Protection of minority voting rights;
• Simply-shaped, compact districts; and
• Respect for county and precinct lines.

Senator Lawson I invite you to come to Fishers and view the new jigsaw puzzle voting districts designed to protect those in office and to avoid every single one of the objectives of Senate Bill 80. Maybe you should expand that Bill to include local elections at the Town and City level.

Fishers, IN is an example of gerrymandering at its best.

Kathy Opt Out

I got in the mail a flyer and survey from Kathy Richardson – Growing Jobs, Helping Hoosiers.

Well let’s see in the past few years she has not done much to help any Hoosiers let alone grow any jobs. Just down the street from her office now stands an empty factory, didn’t they just recently auction off everything inside the plant. Gone for good. If you work for a living, just remember how much she cares about doing nothing to help you.

Now I see she is on another bandwagon, that Indiana Opt Out of the health care bill. Why not? Indiana seems to be at the bottom of so many health issues, lets keep Indiana at the bottom. So all of you who do not have health care, or you might lose your health care, or you like the insurance companies to decide if you even get health care after taking your premiums for years, tell her yes. After all they just want to instill fear that the health care is not for you, or that the costs will skyrocket. The ones who keep claiming this are the ones who don’t want change; they are the ones making lots of money off the broken system. Don’t fall for it. Don’t opt out. Now I will admit the bill in Congress is not perfect, but many times after a bill is passed the Congress over the years fixes the bill and corrects problems, but we have to start somewhere.

Maybe Kathy is the one who should Opt Out?

Election Day Nov 10, 2009 and more

Election Day November 10, 2009.

No surprise that the Hamilton Southeastern School Referendum passed and by a large margin. The surprise was the number of people who signed the petitions to convert the Town of Fishers into a City.

We had volunteers stationed at a number of polling places and they asked people to sign a petition to place on the ballot the question of should Fishers become a City. What was very interesting to me is how many people wanted to sign and how few said I like it the way it is. AT my polling place 50% of the voters signed, why only 50%, first I could not get to all the people. As I was talking to someone, other voters got passed me. Now I know they should have formed a line and signed, but things just didn’t work out that way. So I was very happy with 50% of the total voters. If I have gotten to everyone going into the polls I think the number would have been around 80% based on the number of people who declined to sign, which was very small.

I think the voters of Fishers a lot smarter than the Town Council members think they are and they will prove it at the polls.

But have you noticed that Fishers is trying to make up for lost time. All of a sudden they are trying to be good and nice. Mayor Faultless (actually not the Mayor) but sort of acting like one is going to Washington to work to save Sallie Mae. The Town has gone to the Post Office and asked that all of the new Fishers be called Fishers. Isn’t that something that was proposed by the Geist United Opposition for Geist area? Don’t I remember Fishers saying it couldn’t be done? Funny how they can’t come up with anything on their own until pushed back against the wall.

I do have another interesting question if the Town is cutting its budget by millions does this mean that they overspent by millions in the past. I know where they wasted a few million, the annexation of Geist.

The next thing up the magic sleeve of the Town is to gerrymander the newly annexed area. I have been told that they are going to split the Geist area into four sections with other parts of the Town to try and prevent the Geist people from winning any seats in an election for Council. I hate to say this but if they were to be positive and work towards building a better community what would happen. Instead I am sure they stay up all night working on this stuff.

It’s time to become a City with a government with checks and balances, a government that is responsive to the citizens.

Have you noticed all the public service announcements from Secretary of State Todd Rokita. Can you spot the Con Artist? Interesting question coming from Mr. Rokita.

The question to ask him – Is how come all of a sudden you are showing these ads with you in the picture? Could it be public name recognition so you can run for Governor.

I think so and I hope all the other citizens of Indiana see right through you. Wasting taxpayer’s money so you can get your name out. So when you ask the question --"Think you can spot a con artist?" you need to add one more video to your advertisement – The Secretary of State sitting behind his government desk saying “did I fool them.”

By the way – are you ever going to get to the compliant I filed about Kathy Richardson running her own election and standing in the poling place on Election Day. Oh, I forgot she is in the same party as you.

The Internet - the last 40 Years.

"September marked the 40th anniversary of the invention of the interlinked computer-based communications networks we now call "the Internet."

What is very hard for me to realize what has happened in the past forty years. You see 40 years ago I was working as an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Dayton, Ohio) in the Air Cargo and Airdrop Branch. Our job was to design equipment to parachute men and equipment from aircraft and for air cargo operations from base to base.

One day, sometime in the early 70's, in front of room 103 this large yellow teletype machine appeared. Now we could sent messages directly to other offices within the Department of Defense. I had no clue then this was the start of the internet. But it was. I used it to communicate with our field office at Tan Son Nhut AB, Saigon, Vietnam. For a number of years this was a military system only and does not reflect the internet as we now know it. All communication was written only and by using paper tape.

Fishers Town Council makes a big deal about the great new sports complex they built out in the middle of nowhere on Cyntheanne Rd.

Then they make a big deal about taking over zoning of the area to protect it from landfills that no one was going to build. It was just to scare people into thinking about land fills.

Well maybe they knew something none of us knew, I doubt it. Or maybe they just don’t care about the area but want to make sure no one else does. Well the county still has physical control over the area until Fishers can find someone with a bulldozer and wants to build out in nowhere. But at least the County cares and is going to fix the roads and they invited Fishers to take part. Now this gets funny, here is a copy of an e-mail I have obtained on the conversation between the County and Fishers:

From Hamilton County to Fishers:
“The Hamilton County Highway Department is preparing to Let a contract to resurface the following locations on the above referenced roads.

* 126th St. from Cyntheanne Rd. to 2,643’ E. of Cyntheanne Rd.
* Atlantic Rd. from S.R. 238 to 2,663’ S. of 126th St.
* Atlantic Rd. from 696’ S. of 126th St. to 323’ S. of 126th St.

We plan to convert these chip sealed roads to an asphalt roadway. Our treatment will consist of 2” of HMA Intermediate, 19.0mm and 1” of HMA Surface, 9.5mm with a 2’ compacted aggregate shoulder.

Our records indicate that the Town of Fishers has jurisdiction over the following road segments:

* 126th St. from 2,643’ E. of Cyntheanne Rd. to Atlantic Rd.
* Atlantic Rd. from 2,663’ S. of 126th St. to 696’ S. of 126th St.
* Atlantic Rd. from 323’ S. of 126th St. to 126th St.

This e-mail serves as an inquiry into your interest in having the all or part of these road segments included in the Counties contract. The estimated cost breakdown for Fishers segments are as follows.

The estimated cost to the Town of Fishers for all three segments would be $132,200.00.”

Response from Fishers:
“Sorry for the late response but I didn’t want to leave you hanging after you went through the effort to provide us qty’s and estimated costs. In as much as I would love to participate it appears the funds just don’t exist. Thanks for thinking of us.”

Maybe if Fishers hadn’t wasted two million dollars on the Geist annexation and thousands of dollars for the middle of nowhere Cyntheanne Park, that has had problem after problem and is already very late in opening. They could take care of their citizens. But then again this shows why Fishers should be a City – no one seems to be responsible. You would think they would jump at this and have all the roads look fixed. I hope on the bad sections with the pot holes they post signs: “Now Entering the Town of Fishers” and the County on the repaired sections posts a sign “Leaving Fishers and now Entering Hamilton County.”

Fishers Development in Geist - An Ugly Gas Station

The Fishers Town Council has given the citizens of Geist their first new development, a bright red-bannered gas station. Just what we needed in our peaceful well designed area. Now what I first noticed was that this same gas station in Noblesville has a tan banner on the top and blends in better with the neighborhood. Did Fishers allow the bright red to show the people of Geist who is boss?

I keep hearing what a great job Fishers Town Council has done with their vision for the town, yet when I look around I see one strip mall after another and nearby I see Clay Terrace and Hamilton Town Center. Much nicer shopping centers but I hope everyone noticed they are outside of Fishers, so much for a vision. Oh do those communities have a Mayor?

Rep Kathy Richardson, has a full time job with lots of time off to be a State Representative for the 29th District, from her job with the Hamilton County as the Election Administrator. A few years ago it was shown that she used the County e-mail system for personal use, and off course in Hamilton County nothing happened.

My congratulations to the Commissioner of Clinton County for having the backbone to take action when an elected official in the position of State Representative violates policy by using the county e-mail system for personal use. Never in Indiana - N1H1 flu shots

About 55 years ago I remember being lined up in the hallway in PS 152 in New York City to get a Polio Shot and then booster shots, also TB testing. I believe State of Indiana should consider doing this with the N1H1 immunizations when they become available. This is an easy way to get to a large segment of the population at risk fast.

But this is Indiana and the Republicans that control the statehouse will yell its plot to bring Federal Health Care to the state. No, its just a great way to bring protection to those who need it most and also to prevent overloading the medical system. You can immunize 100's in a short time, instead of making them each go to their physician. It would also be a much lower cost to the families or to the government. So put aside your politics and do something that's good for the people.

Fishers Indiana, town or city?

Many of you living in the Geist area will remember when we tried to form our own city only to be stopped by Fishers and the courts. While doing research on becoming a City I also looked into how come Fishers was still listed as a town and I found out any town in Indiana can remain a town forever. No population requirement, no size requirement, etc. Indianapolis could even be a town.

To change from a town to a city it would take a vote by the citizens of the community to convert. But how do I get it on the ballot for people to vote? I found all I needed was so many signatures based on how many people had voted for the Secretary of State and that came to around 1500 voters living in Fishers. So far I alone have collected about 1000 signatures and others are now collecting more. It has been very interesting do this with comments from some people. These are great on both sides of the fence. One of my favorite places to meet with people is the Fishers Farmers Market on Saturday morning. If is not 90 degrees or raining the odds are you can see me getting signatures and talking to people.

Part of the fun is hearing what people say or their questions. So here are some of the statements, questions, and comments:

When I first started to collect signatures I had to explain what was this all about. This past Saturday I had three people just grab my clip board and sign without having to say a word.

Here we go:

I though Fishers was a city.

What’s the difference?

I won’t sign because you will get this on the ballot and the people around here will approve a city.

I would love to sign but I work for the town and they ….

Two Fishers Policemen- “What are you doing?” I said “Getting signatures on a petition that you should sign but won’t to place on the ballot the question of town versus city in accordance with my rights as protected under the Constitution of the United States.” After their surprise look, they just left.

Will this raise my taxes?

Will this lower my taxes?

Will this mean get a real Mayor?

Will we still have a town manager?

Will we get rid of the town council?

Will we keep the town council?

Does this mean we get rid of Mayor Church?

What’s voting at large?

Will we still have our sister city?

Will this change the fire and police?

Will this mean we get smoke free restaurants?

I have watched what the Council is doing and I don’t like the way they are acting. They should have placed this on the ballot when you started instead of telling us everything is perfect.

I live in Geist can I sign? (Yes we will be submitting this after the annexation takes place.)

Who is my district representative?

Do we currently have district representatives?

I live in Chicago can I sign? (Sorry but I would consider it if you bring dead relatives and Mayor Daly along.)

It’s hard to believe but Sarah Palin while governor of Alaska turned down 28 million dollars of federal money for energy-efficiency. Sarah is gone, its been two weeks since she quit, and the people of Alaska have saner legislators that have over ridden her old veto on those funds. It gets even better, Sarah turned it down because as she put it, accepting the money would force Alaska to adopt new building codes.

First as it turns out no need to change any building codes and second if the codes were such that homes built were not energy efficient what is so wrong with that.

In fact we need to raise our codes in Indiana. Indiana is another one of those states led by politicians that feel that government should not tell people what to do. I do agree, but some most people have no clue about energy efficiency and then it becomes governments place to help the citizen with codes that force homebuilders and developers to meet certain standards. I am willing to bet 99% of the people have no clue as the R value needed in their home or even what an R value is. OK, go Google R Value.

Once again Sarah has shown me how dangerous she is.

Just for info, South Carolina is having another of their tax free holidays (on everything) even saves $300 on buying a car (max tax on a car in South Carolina) or most likely 8.5% on buying anything.

Would Indiana ever do something like this. NEVER. You see Indiana is an anti- citizen state. Mitch would never adopt a consumer friendly action such as this. But Mitch you should, as it would help out your business buddies. They could sell products and make money, get things moving again, maybe even put a few more people to work. I know its a hard concept to envision but it does help.

Oh Mitch by the way did you notice in SC the max tax on a car purchase is $300.00. I didn't think so.

Gerrymandering in Fishers Part II

The wheels have started to turn, the maps are on the desks, the question where to draw the crooked lines so Charlie’s replacement can be appointed.

Rumor has it Charlie White will be resigning soon; he is going to run for Secretary of State and will not have time for the Town Council. Rumor also has it that his replacement is Mike Colby and therefore the district lines must be redrawn. Congratulations Mike on winning an election Fishers style.

Of course its all legal and both parties are guilty of this game. Should it be legal of course not, will it ever change, I doubt it.

By the way, Friday I will be going to the State Fair and one of my favorite things is to go to the pig barn, I am always looking for the famous pork barrel. Meet me for lunch at the Dairy Barn. If you are selling anything fried, sorry no sale.

Gerrymandering Fishers and Hamilton County Style

Guess what is starting to rear its ugly head once again. Gerrymandering is coming once again to Fishers and to Indiana voting districts.

Wikipedia defines it as follows:

“Gerrymandering is a form of boundary delimitation (redistricting) in which electoral district or constituency boundaries are deliberately modified for electoral advantage. Gerrymandering may be used to help or hinder particular constituents, such as members of a political, racial, linguistic, religious or class group.”

In Fishers it’s a way of life to protect those in office. When Scott moved to a new home the Town Council, in the dead of the night, annexed his property and then included it in his district so he would not lose his political office, next came Eileen moving to a new home and guess what they did? Oh let see you guessed they moved the district boundaries. Well, you are 100% correct. Why is this coming up again? Some rumored changes are coming to the Town Council. Charlie is going to run for Secretary of State so the Council or Republican Party will name a replacement, they may have to move boundaries for whoever this newly selected person. Others on the council may be leaving and just watch district lines fly all over the place, next comes Geist, oh what to do about Geist. I am willing to bet Scott’s single house lot is not is the same district as everyone else in Geist, you see he would never get elected from District that contains voters from Geist. Or split up Geist into many small sections attached to other districts to remove the impact of these voters. This would be very true if the voters convert Fishers into a City where voters select their representatives from their own district. You mean they don’t do that now. No, not in Fishers. All district representatives are elected town wide. Can’t get defeated that way. No wonder no one votes in the Fishers elections.

Or keep all of Geist in one district so they could only get one Council member and the other could keep them in check. Funny how that works in Fishers. It’s time to sweep clean the entire Town Council.

Next comes other areas in Hamilton County, I have heard that Kathy Richardson is busy at work redrawing county lines, after all Kathy is the Elections head of the county, she is also the one I ran against in the last election, you know the one who ran her own election. Maybe she will gerrymander my home up I-69 to Forth Wayne. You know I would not be surprised. Let’s see I live on a corner lot, so up the boundary would run in the street up Olio Road to Route 238 and then onto I-69 to Exit 6 it would make the District 100 miles long, but who cares. I would then be in District 83. I would not be surprised. Would you be?

T-Moble and Cingular want to lease property for cell towers. On town property. This way the Town gets revenue from the property lease but at the same time it appears that they could not have done this just a few weeks ago.

They violate two zoning ordinances:
1) Open Space does not allow a Cell Phone Tower
2) 270 foot setback versus 500 foot from a residential property

How would you like to live 270 feet from a cell tower, you never knew was going to drop in next to your home? And of course you didn’t get a chance to ask about it or appear before the Council to protest. Did I say property values. So if you live near these new towers make sure you ask for a reduction of your property taxes as you property values nosedive.

Town of Fishers to Raise Taxes again

The Town of Fishers is once again raising taxes by a hidden tax. It’s a tax on your use of cable which is going from 3 to 5%, almost double. So if your cable bill is $100 your current tax is three dollars well its going to five dollars. The reason the increased benefit of cable.

Lets try increased need to of the Town because of poor planning and budget shortfall.

Went is this going to happen, they are going to vote on it at their July 20th Council Meeting and it is effective at once. The same day.

Cable users of Fishers did you know your cable cost is going up by two percent? Did you know this is a hidden tax by Fishers? BTW- Did you even know you were paying 3% of your cable in a tax?

Fallcreek Township 2008 Referendum 2

Follow the money just follow the money. Well I am starting to follow the money to parties and tricks that are used in election campaigns. I will be adding new findings over the next few weeks.

So here is the first one. Last year in the election there was a Referendum on the Ballot for a small question of the right of citizens to have a say in zoning in their area when that area is un-incorporated. The Town of Fishers had taken over zoning during the dark of the night and many people who lived in the area did not care for this. So put it to a vote and the vote passed to move the zoning away from Fishers. Of course Fishers does not care what the citizens wanted and used another law to take over anyway.

Well during the campaign signs and banners popped up to get people upset, they implied that if this passed Land-Fills and Junk Yards would all of a sudden be allowed. It was just a fear tactic of the Town Council. But where did these signs and banners come from, who paid for them, etc.

It has taken a while but I now know and I wanted all of you to know.
The funds came from two law firms, and of course I have to ask why? Maybe they were told to do it by members of the council, that part I doubt we will ever know.

Forbes picks Fishers as a move in community

The article in Forbes is for the best places to move, not live. A big difference. It’s a place where corporate serial movers called Relos can move into and out off. Not exactly what I would call good long-term citizens. This article tags Fishers as a “Reloville” which is a community with twice everything of a mature community, such as income, house values and divorce rates. But as the article states these people know the way to the airport but not city hall. Maybe that explains the high voter rate in Fishers. As such they don’t join community groups other than the PTA and soccer. They don’t run for election or contribute to campaigns for community improvements as they won’t be here for the long run.

So don’t be so proud of Fishers being a member of the Relovilles of America.

The grand Mitch screw ups.

For years Governor Mitch Daniels and his administration ignored the plight of Hoosiers from the welfare system to education. If has to do with a personal service of any kind, Mitch is not your man. If it has to do with the reduction of services, Mitch is your man. If it has to do with a long-term outlook, Mitch is not your man. If it has to do with a short-term gain and total disregard for the future, Mitch is your man.

Mitch privatized Indiana's Family and Social Services Administration and the result was a short-term savings over the use of government employees and the result a mess. People were replaced with computer systems and phone system that just don’t hack it. I guess Mitch believed that all the poor and disabled people had computer systems to access to high-speed web systems. OK Mitch many of these people don’t have money for food, where are they going to get a computer and web hook-up. How is someone who is deaf going to use the phone system? Instead of helping the poor and those in need, Mitch is trying to force them out of the system. That way he doesn’t have to help them.

Then we come to education where once again Mitch has shown himself for what he is, someone who will take care of the wealthy and let the poor folks, well just let them. First his education plan funds the rich districts and decreases funding to the inner city and small rural schools. That’s a great idea Mitch let the school districts that are in trouble get further in trouble. Don’t give the kids in these districts a chance of pulling themselves up, instead pound them down, so what if they don’t get an education and drop out. So what if they go on welfare, oh I forgot they can’t because they don’t have a computer to log into the welfare system. Well, if they drop out, they can always get a GED later, opps, the man Match stopped funding for the GED program.

I can’t wait to see what happens to the highway he sold off and by the way what happened to all that money?

Just so all of your know, here is what is going to happen. In a few years we will get a new governor and whoever it is, is going to have repair all of this. Mitch will be gone and everyone will blame the new guy for spending money to repair what Mitch has done. Just as he screwed up in the White House, he is screwing up in Indiana.

Mitch Education Plan - Rep vs Dem School Districts

Mitch old buddy you ain't fooling me. I took a look at the education plan in the state budget and I have a question for you.
How come school districts in Democratic areas would see a funding reduction and those in Republican areas a funding increase?
I know you want to do this per student and in growth areas the funding would go up, yet in the areas where we need to pump more money the funding is going down. So the inner city schools can continue to spiral downward. The rich school districts will get more money.

Well, old buddy, as the inner city schools continue to decline the students will decline and the end result will be more welfare and more of these people in jails as they get older.

No wonder Pat Bauer does not like your school funding. Anyone who looks to the future should reject your funding proposal. We need to pump more money and better teachers into the failing schools to give the inner city students the tools to live good lives and not prison terms.

Hamilton County --- Not Green!

As you enter the Hamilton County building you will see a very nice chamber. Recently the people responsible for maintenance replaced the light bulbs with new energy efficient bulbs. But then under direction of one the County Commissioners they were order to go back to regular bulbs at once and before a Commissioners meeting later that day.

So much for the County wanting to reduce energy costs, etc. Yet the county has to cut costs. Well not at the commissioner level. It's your tax dollars - its time to write the Commissioners and protest.

Dan Burton Job Fair

Congressman Burton will be hosting his first Help Indiana Regain Employment (H.I.R.E) Job Fair in Marion, Indiana on Monday, June 29th on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.

I think I figured it out. You see Danny boy never has done anything that I can find for this district. Notice he calls this his "First." Dan knows that once a Republican is elected out here they are elected for life. But even the Republicans have figured out that Danny does not do anything except try and improve his golf game while in office. I think so far 4 Republicans have said they will run against Dan. So Danny is trying to make believe he cares. He actually was spotted at some function here weeks ago and now this job fair. Maybe he is going to be standing in line to make sure he can get another job when the people finally wise up and throw him out of office.

Special note to my friends who are Republicans by having four people run against him you are going to blow it, he will win the primary because you are going to spread out the vote over four people running against him. A bit of advice for the four of you sit down at the poker table and the winner takes all.

A tail of a mower.

My Toro mover of 15 or 20 years has lost its horsepower, instead of 5.5HP I think it is down to 1.2. So it was time to look for a new mower. Let's face it the economy needed a boost.

Part one research- Internet here we go again. Top ranked Honda - no surprise here, next John Deere, again no surprise and guess what Lowes is having a sale on John Deere mowers and I have a 10% off coupon, sounds like a deal. So off to Lowes. Purchase a JS25 mower and off to the lawn. Well after two hours it starts to act up, when you put the self propel into gear, it dies. Restart and go very slow, any fast speed and it dies. In any case just finished so I didn't even think about it until the next time, 2 hours into mowing, same thing. OK, back to Lowes and get a replacement.

Three hours into mowing, same thing. Right on the mower is an 800 number for customer service. Didn't even have to wait, Model Number he asks, what's can I do for you. I have this problem that is the same on two mowers..... He didn't understand, I explained it again slowly, ah he says "We do have an issue with that model in a few cases where the cable needs adjustment as the engine is getting a vapor lock when hot and it gets gas for the self propel."
Just take it to the warranty center near you and they will adjust it. I ask "If you have an issue why are you selling this." No answer just repeats about warranty and I do need help finding the warranty center. Thank you - good bye. Now being an engineer- I do not like things that need adjustment and warranty work, it also means every few years, if not every year it will need adjustment. After a while I would have to pay for it. So back to Lowes and a full refund. The salesmen at Lowes wanted to know why I brought back a second one and what was wrong. I told him not to sell it to anyone who took more than 2 hours to mow their yard. Better yet not to sell it to anyone. If John D knows it has an issue why are they still selling it. Oh I know most people mow in less than two hours. 5 Stars for Lowes return policy.

Back to research and a visit to Home Depot to look at the Honda and Toro. While the Honda looked good it was missing one thing, No side discharge. Check on the internet cites the one problem with the Honda - no side discharge and it jams in tall grass. Every review seemed to like the Toro. At Home Depot the sales lady in the lawn department proudly tells me she has owned the Toro I am looking at for two years and loves it. Lots of questions, and she has answers. Next I tell her about my John D and the 10% coupon, no problem they will match the 10% off.

The Toro actually has a better walk behind self pace system than the John D's system. I guess you pay extra for the green paint. The Toro also has a 1 inch wider deck, so maybe I will have 2 or 3 less rows to mow. The big test is next week when we go for a three hour run. Will keep you posted.

Fisher Town Council at it Again

Is anyone surprised by the title, I doubt it.

Well here we go again. Next Tuesday June 9, 2009 at 6:30 pm it is my understanding the Fishers Planning Board is going to discuss the Fishers request to exempt themselves from the UDO and zoning requirements that are established for everyone in the Town as well as those 2 miles outside of the Town.

One of the property owners in the effected area has told me that contrary to statements by town officials that "they have worked out all differences with adjoining property owners, wherever there have been issues, so they think they are now ready to proceed with this request to exempt town property."

She said no way, that she nor others have had anything worked out with them.

I think I know who they worked out the details with, none of the small land owners, you know the people who live in the area. They worked it out with the developers and track land owners, the people who want to see Fishers by-pass rules and in return some day by-pass some for them.

Just in case some of my fans on the Fishers Town Council are reading this I want to pass on something I learned a long time ago. When I was working for my Citizenship Merit Badge I remember one thing that has always remained with me and I want to state it here. "Public service is public trust." Members of the Council you would never make it to Eagle Scout because this is a required merit badge.

For everyone- Government should never holds itself to a lower standard than what it expects of it citizens. Fishers claims this will save it money on public projects, well then let everyone save money on their home and business projects.

Will this pass? Well the Fishers Planning Commission and the Town work we all know the answer in advance. No matter what anyone says they will pass this. They would have done it a long time ago, but too many of us have been watching and they know they are under fire for all the games they play. So they are making believe they are talking and listening.

Remember - "Public service is public trust."

Gov Daniels what happened to the Budget?

Dear Gov Daniels

I have been for months telling you its raining and time to dip into the rainy day fund. You kept on saying all is fair and sunny. Now that GM is in Chapter 11, and California is sinking in debt into the ocean did you finally realize yes it is time to use some of your cash you have been hiding in the closet.

So you still have 1 billion in that fund. Why not make a loan to the CIB to bail them out? Give them some room to work things out and get back on track. I said loan not grant, they would have to pay you back. But this is thinking out side the box and from what I have seen you can't.

Cyntheanne Park is being built in the middle of nowhere by the Town of Fishers. The latest in this saga is that the grass was not planted correctly and they have to start over that segment, its only $100,000. Where were the inspectors and oversight while grass was being planted. They have already spend over 2 million dollars, and have hidden costs such as law suits, different budget item, etc and the death of two citizens who were fighting the construction of the park. One of a heart attack over the entire mess and his son by his own hand after a court battle where the town council president told him they would ruin him. Now the Town says they are going to sue the builder to try and get the money back for the bad grass. It’s a smoke screen, you see the builder is gone and out of business. You can’t sue a vacant address. They are just saying it to make people think they are going to do something. More fun and games by the Fishers Town Council.

Now the some of the truth is coming out. The land was owned by a Burton, could it be Representative Dan Burton. Could it be there was a deal to help Dan get rid of the land instead of having to wait years for the growth to catch up. What kind of deal was this? When did he purchase the land knowing the Town was going to buy it. Maybe someone should investigate and not by anyone around here after all it would be put under the rug.

On top of all of this is the fact that this is not a regular park but rather a sports complex of five soccer fields. Why spend 2 million dollars on 5 soccer fields, another pay off and this time to the SPORTS group of the area. So here is a park that is 7.5 miles away on average from the vast majority of the town set up for SPORTS to run organized soccer games. The other day I figured out that every time SPORTS sets up one of its series of games people will drive a total of about 9000 miles that day for the games. That’s a lot of gas. Its also a lot of pollution. But who cares. SPORTS will have its own field support by the Town. Now I am not against the Town supporting SPORTS and providing fields for kids to play on. I am against a total waste of money to accomplish the end result. Also this locks in the SPORTS group and excludes other groups in the area providing activities for children. But then again SPORTS helps quietly to work for the town and its elected officials. Maybe someone needs to also investigate why a non-profit group is so deeply involve in local politics. The taxpayers have paid for Cyntheanne Park and will continue to pay to maintain it. The Town is not finished with the park and more money will be needed.

I think the same could have been accomplished if we needed more soccer fields by adding fields to existing parks and at the High School. That way the fields would be closer to the citizens. But that way the …… to Burton and SPORTS could not be made. This clearly shows a lack of real thinking and concern for the community.

To the citizens of Fishers, its time for you to start asking the hard questions. Only a few people even vote in the elections, so the Town Council believes it can do whatever its wants and none of you will care. Start caring. It’s time for all of you to take back your own government, take back your community. Fishers is no longer a small sleepy town, it’s grown into a city but still with small town questionable politics. It’s time for a change.

Mudsocks bring back that name.

The history of Fishers, IN started with the name of Mudsocks but for some reason the history on Fishers Town web site leave this off. According to the web site the original name was Fishers Switch, then Fishers Station and now Fishers. But I know the real reason Mudsocks was dropped. You see Fishers is moving towards its original namesake. More and more mud pits are developing in the Town of Fishers. Not by mother nature but by the failure of developers and the Town Council to plan. Fishers does not have a master plan nor does it appear it wants one. Instead Fishers has a Master Map. Well maps can be changed with ease, nothing is in writing, however a master plan has words and things to do and therefore it becomes harder to hide what you are up to without being caught. Now I want to be fair so I have started a list of Failures and Accomplishments by Fishers and if you have any other items you want added please let me know.

Downtown Complex - Upsetting long term residences - vacant homes - nothing done

River Place - Allisonville & 96th Apartments – open field. Not a bulldozer in sight and its developer has withdrawn.

Geist Annexation - $1.5 million wasted in lawsuits, decrease revenue to HSE Schools.

Cynatheanne Park – Mud Pit with a little grass – behind schedule, over budget, lawsuits, two deaths. It has been proposed that it be renamed "Bloody Cyntheanne."

Airport Conversion – GOOD it didn’t happen. But people are leaving the airport and relocating their planes under fear of the Fishers TC. A great way to show that you are in favor of economic development.

Tax increase – Stormwater Tax and soon to double. What other fees will Fishers increase?

Here we go again. Indiana’s State Sen. Luke Kenley, the Noblesville Republican has put together a plan to raise your taxes. The reason we need to have sports. So to get around the Property Tax Cap he proposed, he is now going to tax you very which way he can.

Wasn’t it Rome that kept the people in check with sports, lions eating people and fighting to the death. Is Indiana moving in this direction.

Indiana with the highest out of work in the nation, but we have football and basketball. Indiana keeps coming in at the lowest ratings in the nation in health care, etc.

Maybe Mr. Kenley should work on those problems first.

Another High School?

The Hamilton Southeastern Schools is one of the best districts in the State of Indiana. But I just went to a meeting on the future of the district and the need for another high school. I have got to stop going to theses type of meetings.

At my table to get public input were two high school students and four teachers. Not what I would call public input. The questionnaire and presentation was designed and slanted to move to one answer. Damm the torpedoes full speed ahead and spent for a new high school. The “study” that was presented did not show a full inventory of buildings currently used by the district and utilization rates over the next ten years. While the study may show some of these items directly to the Board it failed to show them to the public. In the presentation overall costs based on different solutions were left out because a few people didn’t feel right about the direction. I was told at the last “public” meeting the citizens don’t want Junior High Schools and it was not viewed. Well, if the public was the same group as at this meeting, it was not the public but rather the customers of the system. A Junior High School Concept would overnight reduce the High School population by 25%. But then it removes the need to build a new high school by about 10 years or so. You might have to build a smaller school or expand, at a much lower costs, another building. But we don’t like the idea, so leave it out, because the tax payers might like it.

Also leave out the operating costs of each solution. Expanding the current schools means less administration costs, maybe we could raise the teachers pay instead.

This study and meeting was an old fashion sales pitch for a used car by a guy in a plaid jacket.

One of the comments I heard from the “public” was rather interesting: If we expend one High School size it would have more students and then they would have more to select from and have an advantage in sports.

No one noticed in the materials the time lines for the expansion of the amount of students that they would not get to the extra 1000 students in the High School for years and years, but we need a 2000 student expansion now. Also most of it is based on re-zoning of vast amounts of farmland into residential subdivisions by Noblesville. I didn’t see an economic analysis of the area growth pattern based on the current trends but rather it was based on the past ten years. So maybe the trends are not too accurate. Building permits are down and the community is aging.

What if the farmland remains farmland? What’s wrong with expanding the current high schools? Well one answer at my table it gets too big and maybe 4000 students in one building is far too much, but it works in Carmel. Another very good district. My High School had 6000 students and to this day it gets listed in the top 100 HS in the US every year.

The School Board has to take this to the voters to approve the building of a new school and I can already see what they are doing to pull the wool over the eyes of the public to spend over 100 million tax dollars.

We need a study but by a totally independent organization and not the group that presented this one sided steer the answer group.

Maybe we do need a new High School, but so far the “study” that was presented is not a “study.”

The State of Indiana has a list of shovel ready project they hope to get funded under the Stimulus Bill. The total of cost of all the projects submitted by Indiana is $2,598,965,295.

Notice all of these are cities, no towns, how come? You see the list comes from the "shovel-ready" projects the mayors submitted in the 2008 U.S. Conference of Mayors report.

Will Fishers be totally left out – No. But they will have to file for Federal Grants after the fact, so while they are filling out a grant application, Carmel will be building more of their silly roundabouts and Fishers will still be going in circles on paper.

Will all projects be funded from this list, no, but they will have a head start in the funding process.

In the Saturday Indy Star is an article “City to get $11.6M from feds” The article starts out by stating “first wave of stimulus money heading to states and cities.” Once again the word town was left out. Many of the road projects that were listed in the article also appear to be going to cities and not towns.

The overall problem is a Federal mindset that a city is a city and a town is 4 stoplights and 2000 people.

Now back to the first question. Fishers is a town and therefore will always play 2nd fiddle to any city even ones much smaller in population in the eyes of those far away looking at giving away Federal money. Don’t forget they see the word Town and have no clue about what the town really is a large city with the wrong name.

Joe's Leading Indicators Show Economy Going Up.

Joe’s leading indicators show the economy getting better in about 5-6 months and it has started to move upward.

For those of you who read my blog and don’t know this I also make and sell reproduction military insignia, www.1903.com, if you want to look. Well this is not a giant field and it the insignia is sold to collectors, re-enactor and museums. So in a way a limited crowd, but a worldwide crowd. I ship overseas at least 3-4 packages a week. A few months ago when the Euro ruled I was shipping 8-10 packages a week and my US sales tanked. Then everything tanked.

Now I call this my leading indicators because I can track sales shipments and get a general feel for what is going on. For example, last July sales dropped 50% from June and then remained low until December, when I saw an up tick But all of a sudden in January the sales moved up ten percent over Jan 08 and this February is already up 33% over last year with 4 days to go.

So if I look over my sales the drop was predicted about six months before all hell broke use and so I now have to say in 5-6 months we should be moving up again.

Letter to Secretary of State Todd Rokita

In Indiana the Secretary of State is charged with running the elections. Needless to say I don't think he is doing a good job. In fact as you read below I think he is doing what can be expected of someone in one party protecting his own party. Letting the party politics get in the way of doing his job. Rumor has it he is going to run for Governor of this State, so to him I say before you run for Governor, clean up your current job.

Dear Secretary Rokita;

On October 9, 2009 I faxed a letter to you of complaint of Ms. Kathy Richardson conducting her own election. To date I have not received a response on any action taken by your office. Ms. Richardson was a candidate as defined by IC 3-11-8-18

Ms. Richardson was clearly in violation of IC 3-11-8-15 as a candidate in a polling place on numerous occasions.
She was also in violation of the following codes:
3-11-10-2 during the receipt of Absentee ballots while as a candidate for office and within fifty feet of the poling place.
3-11-8-18 when she repeatedly offered assistance to voters during voting, while a candidate and within 50 fifty feet of the poling place.

As a result Ms. Richardson ‘s certification of election should be removed for her violations of the Indiana Code and the election re-accomplished under ethical and fair circumstances. Or is it your policy to permit members of your own party to act with impunity when it comes to elections.

Dear Secretary Rokita;

As Secretary of State for Indiana your office is responsible to insure that fair elections and integrity of the vote take place in this state.

I request that you take immediate action to suspend all voting in Hamilton County until such time as Ms. Kathy Richardson is replaced as Election Administrator. Ms. Richardson is a candidate for State Representative in the 29th District.

Ms Richardson is running her own election. She is in full view of people entering to vote early or to request absentee ballots. This places a candidate within full view of voters during the time of election directly within the boundaries of the polls. She counts her own votes and based on questionable past actions this raises a concern over the integrity of the vote. I request the State of Indiana immediately take over full control of the elections in Hamilton County and insure that the ballot is correctly placed and counted before all voters. Ms. Richardson must be removed from the election office. Or she can withdraw from the election. Failure to do so brings into question the integrity of elections throughout the State of Indiana.

Save the Auto Industry - State by State

OK so the Republicans only want to save their friends at Wall Street and in all the Banks. They could care less about the working people of the USA and one of our largest industries. Well, I care and offer this suggestion. If every state had a sales tax holiday for one week on any purchase of a product made by the big three, this problem would be over. Sure each state would lose some tax dollars, but they are losing them anyway as no one is buying. So get moving and declare a sale tax holiday. Lets save the big three without Washington.

Republicans do you want a depression?

The Republicans bail out Wall Street, the banks, etc and don't even say a word about pay cuts and when it comes to the auto workers and Democratic leaning unions they go hog wild. To the many of you who believe bankruptcy is the answer, just watch the effect as 1000's of small businesses down the line go out of business because the big three stop paying them or don't have too. That will throw even more people out of work and the Republicans will cause a depression.

Free markets is an easy answer for all the worlds problems. Let the market determine who wins, who losses. But in today's Bush world it would appear it depends on who you are.

Hopefully the big 3 can hold on until a new Senate comes to power next month and a new bill is introduced.

OK I lost, but the election was fun.

Well, the election is over and I lost, but I must say I think I put up a good campaign. It was very interesting and I have to admit a lot of fun. I met a lot of very nice people and a few nasty ones – but only two of them, which is not too bad. So here is a little about the campaign.

I did not raise much in the way of money for this campaign, it seems everyone had one person on their mind and that is where the money went. Also finding people to help was very hard, once again, the people drifted to the top slot again. So pretty much I was on my own. Towards the end a few people came forward and helped with phone calls and walking door to door. To all of you I big thank you.

I did have a plan but as with all plans things don’t work out. I was hoping for a debate with my opponent, but she doesn’t debate. She told one person who requested that we have a debate “Incumbents don’t debate.” And I find that statement very interesting. Well no money, no debate, so why not walk door to door. Sounded good to me, lets see there are 32,000 doors in the 29th District, how many could I do, based on about 100 a day and on weekends 200, the total came to 6000 doors. That became my goal. The other plan was to meet people at the Farmers Markets, other Festivals, etc. I printed up flyers to give out in my door-to-door visits and cards to hand out at festivals. Well as it turned out on the Friday before election day, I did meet my goal of 6000 visits to homes and here are some highlights: one naked man answered the door, but zero naked women. It was a very hot summer day and I am willing to bet he didn’t even realize the king had no clothes. Two people told to get off their property in no uncertain terms after they asked which party I belonged too. These were the two that were not nice. I am pretty certain one of them called the police on me as a few minutes later a patrol car came by and I just continued to walk door to door and he didn’t say a word but watch for a few minutes. While talking about police, in another community a patrol car pulled up and when he saw my name tag for office, he just smiled gave me a thumbs up and drove off.

I keep getting asked about dogs, the big ones just look at you and stay in their yards. But when a dog was in the yard I went on to the next home. One home I did not open the chain link fence to ring the doorbell, the dog chain was as thick as my wrist and I knew it was better to move on. One little dog broke thru its invisible fence and ran into the street and pulled on my pants. The owner came flying out of her house and grabbed the dog. After she put him in the house we talk about my campaign and she said I will vote for you, but don’t sue my dog. I figured one vote was worth a couple of dog bones I would win in court.

Most people were surprised that a candidate came to their door actually many were shocked. I met a lady who had just celebrated her 100th birthday and how sweet was she. A young man of 30 who told me he knew nothing about politics and could he ask a few questions, we spent the next 30 minutes together. Most people did not know what to say and only a few asked questions, etc. Some told me about some problems and I told them whom they should contact in the local government. But by and large it was a lot of walking and fun. To those of that answered your door, thank you for the honor letting me meet you.

Festivals, farmers markets, etc. They also were fun and I met over 3000 people at these events. I know because I gave away 3000 cards with my name on them. I was asked to leave the Noblesville Farmers Market because they do not allow political activity. Hmm I was asked to leave in front of a booth working for women’s equality, sounds political to me, they also over the various weeks had a few others. I think it was just to get rid of a Democrat since the Republicans don’t campaign in Hamilton County. At another event a police office came up to me as I was going around saying hello and asked what I was doing. I told him and he said don’t brother people. I told him if you brother people you wouldn’t get their vote as he walked away. I did see him later point me out to another officer. So I can tell you, that the police are watching and that is good.

Well, I did raise enough money to buy some yard signs and place them around the three towns in the district, Fishers, Noblesville, and McCordsville and in the countryside of Wayne Township. Right away the signs in Fishers started to vanish and I mean vanish. I did find a bunch of them at the Fishers Town Hall Dumpster and got them back. In the other areas they remained on duty informing the voters. I know because I mapped out where I put them and after the election got almost all them back. I do have a yard sign story. When early voting started at the County Courthouse a number of us Democrats stood outside the Courthouse on Saturday and met voters as they entered to polls, we even had signs in the grass. Fast forward to the next Saturday, a deputy comes out and tells us we have to remove all signs. A little while later we had a Democrat lawyer show up and protest, by this time the Mitch people had shown up and were putting out their signs. An official came out and said all signs had to go, I asked her if she wanted a law suit on Monday morning against the county in violation of the First Amendment after all this was a polling place and public property. The county had enacted that rule in the past week and I am sure it was based on Democratic signs. Well in ten minutes, word came back; signs could be used but only during voting hours. The same as at the polls.

Well, I guess I will run again in two years, but may start walking earlier and try for 10,000 homes, maybe some of you will want to help walk and we can get to almost every home in the district. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and who knows you might find a naked man.

Then again maybe people will donate money and we could run a newspaper or TV ad. I am accepting donation now for two years from now.

Our Financial Mess- Black Friday October 10, 2008

Why?

I am at loss myself and have never seen anything like this ever. Our world has lost all confidence in the US Government and thus in the US Markets. In my opinion they are in fear McBush might win the election and current policies will continue. Once Obama wins I also believe we will start to see a small stabilization and after the New Year when he takes office a recovery will start. Until then many business and people will flat out stop all spending.

Why did happen?

Lets go back 1000 years to the plains and why the American Indian never established towns and cities. They had no regulations and they hunted and chopped wood and when an area had no deer left, they moved to a new area. After 10-20 years the new area had no deer left, firewood was all gone and they moved to a new area, after 10-20 years they had no deer left, firewood was all gone and maybe even moved back to the area they were in 30 years ago as nature let the few remaining deer re-populate and the new trees grew. Now if they had started to build cities and have a real government, they would have understood to replenish the land by regulations and understand forest management.

We only have to go back a few 100 years to see what happened in our land for the same types of examples. Let’s say you were a lumber robber baron and there were no regulations. You started by chopping down every tree near your lumber mill to maximize your profits; you kept expanding your circle of chopped clear land without any regard for the land. When all the land was clear, you packed up the mill and moved it to a new area full of tress. Then came the government and finally stopped you, you yelled, it’s government regulation, stop this, we are free to do whatever our profit hungry business wants to do, get out of our way. But for the good of everyone else, we start to require lumber companies to plant new trees. Establish forest management.

1929 no regulations on Wall Street and in banking, the same greed that the lumber mill had we had in the financial markets. Maximize profits without any regard to anything but your own company, your own profits. Come into the Bush era and the same thing happens, remove regulations, the free market, well this time the mortgage leaders move to maximize profits by chopping every tree, clearing every field and building millions of homes for people who can’t afford the home. The to cover their tracks, they sell the mortgages to one another, so no one can tell who owns what and more greed, give mortgages with no money down. Building contractors who could care less start selling to anyone with no money down and don’t tell the new homeowner about real costs. “I didn’t know I had to pay for gas to heat my home and hot water, the apartment I came from it was included in the rent, I though it was in the mortgage.” Yes, I actually heard this. Then came the property taxes, insurance, etc. Many of these new homeowners started to move back to apartments and just walked away from their homes. They had no investment, it was a no lost for them. I met one home owner, who moved in with a zero down mortgage, had never paid a single mortgage payment and had lived six months free in their home only paying the electric bill. He figured he had a few more months of free “rent” before they got to him.
We as a nation need to understand the greed that comes from a few without regulation and oversight. Make the regulations fair but stop the few crooks, which ruin it for all. The concept of free markets, etc is nice and in a perfect world might work. But we live in a world where a few are willing to steal. In the 1930’s we made a lot of regulations to stop the crooks of the markets of the 20’s. In the next few years we are going to have to look back and start to make new regulation or institute old regulations to stop the type of abuse that caused this mess. It’s not the end of the world to have a few regulations for the benefit of most against a few who want to ruin for all to their benefit.

I hope that my Republican friends can cross the line this election year and vote for the person best to lead in their area, whether the President, Congressman or the State Representative. Look at the person, what they have done in the past or what they propose to do in the future. The ones who want to do nothing or continue what they have been doing it’s time to replace them.

$700 Billion Fails due to Republicans - Depression Coming

House Republicans have said no to their own leadership and have told the rest of us they would rather have a worldwide depression than interfere with government regulation. They are the same Republicans who caused this mess with a lack of regulations. The Republicans believe everything will be taken care in a market that is free of government interference; it was the same concepts that in 1929 lead us into a worldwide depression. So now that these people can’t read a simple history book will lead us back into a worldwide depression once again.

Back in the 1920’s it was the lack of regulation of the stock market and deals built upon deals without a foundation. It was greed. Today it’s not the stock market but the home market with greed built upon homes that were lacking a foundation, not a cement foundation but an economic one this time. Once again it was greed, greed to mortgage lenders and banks willing to write a mortgage based on a hope and prayer. As I am walking neighborhoods I spoke to a homeowner who told me about the vacant new home next to his. The loan company wrote a $170,000 loan to two kids working part time at a Subway and didn’t tell them about all the expense with a new home. Didn’t tell them about the taxes on a home, that they would have real utility bills, he said they lasted three months and moved out. The house has been empty for a year. Thee bank is paying for that house and therefore losing money every month.

Lets look down the near term road at some of the other problems that are coming our way. Local government runs on property tax, as home values drop, I have seen one estimate so far this year of a 12% drop, so will tax revenues drop. Now will local governments lower spending or raise taxes as revenue drop. They will ignore the problem and try and raise taxes. The result less money in people’s pockets and less spending further moving our nation into a depression.

Banks will not have any money to make loans, housing starts have already slowed down, thus construction workers will not have money in their pockets and another slow down in another area.

Banks will fail and be bought up by other banks and soon we will have a few very large banks and nothing else. I guess that is what the rich Republicans want.

Next is the greed by the CEO’s and the lack of oversight by the Boards of these companies. The CEO’s get friends to be on the boards no one questions the CEO anymore until the FBI shows up at the door. Do CEO’s even care who they work for anymore? I doubt it. It’s a game and they have no clue about the company they manage, it's more of a management style and not the company’s product line. Combine these along with the lack of caring by the government and guess what it’s 1929 all over again.

Please read the messages below-- I have been working towards putting on the ballot the question of should Fishers remain a Town or become a City with a few other individuals. After what has happened I think it became even more important to get this question on the ballot and put some responsibly into local government which a city would bring. In a few weeks we will be putting a group together to move forward and if you want to help please let me know. I would like to have people at Fishers polling places to obtain petition signatures on voting day. By doing this we could in one day obtain signatures to get this question on the ballot.

I met Kevin a few times and here was someone willing to fight for his own rights. This was a 3 1/2 year battle for him. As you read what is below you will get the feeling a town that does not care. So this is what it has to come too. A guy takes his life because a group of individuals running a town is hell bent with running over longtime rural Hamilton county residents with building a town to their liking. All the Peterson's and neighbors wanted was a fence to block out noise and car lights and a commitment to not light the complex till we move from the area. Judge dismisses Fishers residents' due process lawsuit

A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit four Fishers residents filed against the town in federal court earlier this year.

Kevin Peterson, one of the plaintiffs, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest this morning in his garage, said Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy Vicky Dunbar. She said foul play was not suspected.

Kevin Peterson and his wife, Caroline Peterson, along with another couple, filed the lawsuit over the town's construction of Cyntheanne Park near 126th Street and Cyntheanne Road, which bordered their property. They alleged in the lawsuit that the town violated zoning laws, as well as the residents' right to due process.

Kevin Peterson had complained about the noise and crowd the park would bring.

"What they are building here is a sports complex, not a park, with a public address system, lights and a huge parking lot," Kevin Peterson said in August. "When we tried to talk to the town about how this was (intruding) on our privacy, they wouldn't listen, so we were forced to go to court."

Judge Richard Young threw out the case because the plaintiffs didn't "state a claim upon which relief can be granted," Young wrote in his order to dismiss the case.

The trial was a waste of the town's time and money, Fishers attorney Doug Church said Wednesday afternoon. He couldn't estimate how much it cost the town.

"Any dollar we spent was a dollar more than we should've had to," Church said.

Though the case failed in court, it played a role in the fall voter referendum that could strip Fishers of its zoning authority over areas in Fall Creek Township that are outside the town's boundaries. The Geist residents who collected signatures for the referendum to appear on the ballot used the case as an example of why Fishers should no longer be in charge of zoning outside its boundaries.

Republican Socialism

What everyone has forgotten is that the Republicans under the Bush leadership has started one of the biggest socialist programs ever the take over of the banking / finanical system by the government.

They started deregulation and the greed of the party fairful has backfired. So now to hide the faliure of their prograns they want a bailout with no controls.

This is the same problem we have anywhere you have a single party in power. No checks and balances on the system.

This is the problem here in Hamilton County where the Republican Party seems to run everything. It's time to change this one party takes it all and elected people based on peole and not the party. Actually if you look at this way a few Republicans act more like Democrats and the other way around. Its the policy of the person, not the party.

Today everything is about Wall Street and the Bush economy and the urgent need to give them $700 billion to bail out the people who got us into this mess. From what I read it means I as well as every one of you has to hand over $2000 of our money to bail out these rich folks.

First George tried to give us money to make the economy move and now he is taking it back and giving it to his buddies on Wall Street. The same people he worked so hard to give a free hand so they could build the economy. Well they build homes for themselves and not the economy. Now I have nothing against Wall Street what I do have is an anger against CEO’s that make millions just to see which CEO can make the most, not what’s good for their company, but who has the largest jet and of course the biggest house and of course how many houses. We have turned the world upside down. Working families are on the bottom of the pile and a few executives and sports stars on top. It’s time to stop this nonsense.

We need to change the tax structure and lower taxes for those who make less than million and raise it for those who make more than a million. Actually I am not sure where the cut should be, but making 5, 10 or 20 million a year is not right. No one is worth that much, but our culture makes us think that way. What if we took away a zero from all the superstars? Got a 10 million contract, opps lets make that one million. I see nothing wrong with a 90% tax if you make over 10 million. Make less than $100,000 I want to reduce your tax. Oh no can’t do that, that is socialism, wait isn’t what George wants to do on Wall Street real socialism. Or is it reverse Robin Hood, steal from the poor and give to the rich. With a 90% tax The Donald would cry and cry but would he even notice it, I doubt he even knows what he has. What if for every million over one million the income tax goes up 5% until it hits some high number? Or make it 3%, I don’t care, let congress figure out a number, but lets do something instead of this crazy idea to lower taxes on the rich. The concept is if you lower their taxes they will spend the money and it goes down into jobs. Sorry, they don’t spend that much, they save it to make even more. While a middle income family spends too much of their money.

Next it is time for shareholders to revolt and demand the CEO’s take a pay cut. In fact a big pay cut or throw them out and hire someone who cares about the company and not only about their pay. It used to be you worked your way up to the top. Now you work way up to then work for an outsider who knows nothing about your company, but knows money tricks. It’s time to stop all this nonsense.

Then it is time to stop our love of sports and the pay of the players. No, love the sport, but stop paying the players to the point of where you can’t afford to go to a game. What has gotten into people willing to spend hundreds to see a bunch of overgrown people play a game? It’s only a game; start to realize it’s only a game. Why are you wasting your hard earned money on a game? I think some people would rather go to a football game than save the money to sent their children to college. What would happen if no one went to any football game for a weekend and demanded lower cost tickets? Then do it again another weekend, then a week of baseball games. If every player quit, want to bet a bunch of new ones would fill the ranks overnight.

It’s time to stop and think, please think. Greed by a few has gotten us into this mess, let’s stop the greed, and let’s demand that it stop.

The Goose and Gander Act

If elected I will propose the Goose and Gander Act. First I am not sure who is the Goose or who is the Gander, nor do I believe the Legislators in the Indiana House and Senate have the guts to pass this Act nor the guts to even let it get to the floor for a vote. They would hate to see this become law; it would sort of level the playing field between them and state employees. Why submit the Act? To show the people of the State of Indiana how bad things have become, how the legislators take care of themselves and don’t care anymore. How their special interests seem to be more important than the people.

So what is this act that will be so embarrassing to the lawmakers? Here is simple version of the bill:

Whatever is law for state employees must also be law for legislators in the areas of ethics and benefits. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. A prime example would be the pension fund, just compare the two. Then look at the requirement of ethics between the two. One has extensive requirements the other almost none. Can you figure out which one? I would write this bill to include any government agency at any level in the state. So a schools board could not have two levels of benefits for administers and then another for teachers.

Privatization – Good idea, but it does not work.

The concept of privatization is that private industry can do a better job than the government in running many programs. This is a good concept and true in many cases. It is true where you have real competition, such as electronics stores or Home Depot vs., Lowes or in the auto dealerships that have to fight for your dollar.

But it falls flat on its face when you have private industry take over a government function. You see you lose that one word in these cases competition. All of sudden there is no incentive to be better, what you have done is replaced one bureaucracy with another. You go from a government bureaucracy to a private one. If a service manager at a dealership does not take care of you, you can’t go to a different dealership. It’s the same as if it were the government with a new and different name.

The why do some government leaders love the idea of privatization, it’s a cover, it’s a way to hide from responsibility. All of sudden it’s not a government problem, but a problem at xyz Corp. Talk to their CEO, well try and talk to their CEO. If you think you get the round around with some government agencies, try talking to a contractor of a government function. Try then talking to the government official in charge of the contract, you will never get anywhere, each will claim it’s the others responsibly and you have to talk to them. You will go around and around and around and around --- I think you get the picture.

Next move down the road a few years. The contractor all of a sudden needs more money. The government has requested a new report, etc and this was not within the context of the original contract, therefore the government will have to pay more, etc and on and on. The costs of course for any new effort far exceed anything realistic, you see the private company has you over a barrel. The other shoe drops, unforeseen costs have developed and more money is needed, time to renegotiate the contract. What are you going to do, fire them and switch, too who? No one else does this work? The government has built a monopoly within its own state network. Bring the work back into the state, wait you fired all the people who know how to run that department and replaced them with a few contract monitors, who by now have no clue what is going on. And, in no time all your savings are gone and now you are paying even more. But the size of government is smaller, but the size of real government is much larger. This is another way industry pads the bill to the government by growing in size to meet your “needs.”

Let’s look at the sale of the toll road by Mitch. I am willing to bet in a few years the new owner will go to court to get a toll increase. They will claim the cost of maintenance was incorrectly developed by the state and the higher oil prices, etc, require a higher toll. If everyone fights them and says no, they will declare bankruptcy and have the court save them with a price increase. Mitch could have achieved the same thing of raising money by sell highway bonds and keeping ownership of the toll road. This will rear its ugly head in a few years, but Mitch will be long gone and no one will remember who got us into the dumb mess.

Be very careful of privatization, sounds good on paper or from the mouths of politicians, but it does not work and by the time you figure out it does not work the politician proposing the original concept is long gone. So now it becomes your problem.

If elected I will work to stop any state privatization effort.

McCain is anti Veteran Hospital Care

For some reason unknown to me a lot of Veterans keep telling me they will vote for John McCain because he will be pro-military. I am sorry but he is not pro-military, but rather pro-war and there is a major difference. Military.com is very reliable when it comes to reporting on military affairs. If you think John is pro-military you need to read this article, if you believe John is anti-veteran you need to read this article. This article provides a great insight into the real John McCain. It just might change your mind. In Indiana we can expect whatever happens in Wash DC to flow downhill to our state. As a lucky veteran who is healthy I do not use the VA System, but my father-in-law did, I have several friends who do and I might need it in the future. I would hate to see this removed and closed down. What is this man thinking?

Oh, I know, John has lots of money and get the best of private health care, so if he buy what ever he needs so can everyone else.

Fishers, In - Cyntheanne Park and the UDO

On Monday August 18,2008 the Fishers Town Council will vote on an ordinance: “Town owned properties are exempt from the standards of this Unified Development Ordinance. All other State and Federal laws and regulations (i.e. State Building Code) shall remain in full force and effect.”

Now isn’t that nice, the Town of Fishers can do whatever its wants to but its citizens have to tow the line. I am very surprised it didn’t include elected officials of the Town as also being exempt.

What is very interesting is that the Town Planning Commission gave this an "Unfavorable recommendation" to the Town Council by a 4 to 7 Vote. While this is nice some a few times the Planning Commission has returned an unfavorable recommendation to watch the Town Council approve. I am sure once again they will approve to hide the mistakes and bad judgment they have shown in the Cyntheanne Park Development. By the way to those of you who might read this blog outside the area. This is not a park development it’s a mega sports complex with lighting to light up the night sky, parking, well just say more than enough for a park in the country, actually for 100’s upon 100’s of cars. Concession stands, etc. Oh just a small park. You would think they were trying to get the Olympics to come to Fishers.

I am very sorry but it seems that some elected officials forgot why they were elected, some think they are in charge with powers that go far beyond what they should be doing.

To the elected officials of Fishers, it’s time you stop acting like spoiled children having to have your way and listen to the people. Now, I know the group fighting you in this case is outside the Town boundaries, but it’s a matter of time before you annex them and then hopefully they will help remove every single one of you from office at the polls. Other voters in Fishers are starting to wake up to your form of non responsive government.

My effort to convert Fishers to a city is about responsible government, something you don’t know about. About being able to elect representatives directly and not hide behind an at-large system. About having a single city point of contact and not hide behind a town manager and thus pass the football back and forth until anyone who complains gives up. About voting for a Mayor instead of having a defacto head of the town selected by yourselves. All you know about is power and your running of this town as if it were your own private club.

The Heavy Hand of Fishers, Indiana

Kevin and Caroline Peterson of Fall Creek Township, Indiana have a very nice home in the country and it was peaceful until the Town of Fishers, Indiana made the decision to build a park next door to them. Now you would think a park would be nice to have next door. But not a park built by Fishers.

You see Fishers does not want a park but rather a massive sports complex complete with a stadium and lights that light up the night and all the homes in the area. Hundreds of parking spaces, the list goes on and on. So the Peterson's and their neighbors went before the Town Council. Not once but three times.

To which Fishers Town Council et al said "Fishers did not have to reply to the Peterson's complaint nor do anything to redress their grievances because they (Fishers) were not subject to due process, civil rights, or equal treatment under the law provisions of the U.S. Constitution."

So the Peterson's took the matter to Federal Court. The town needless to say has been claiming this does not belong in Federal Court, it belongs in state courts, where the local politics start to play a role and towns are never wrong. Well, right now its still in the Federal System. Its rather interesting in questioning, the Township Trustee stated that the Town Council President threatened the removal of Fire Protection and another elected Town Council member tried to bride him if he played along. Is this Indiana or Chicago? The late Mayor Daley and Boss Tweed of NYC would be very proud of this town council.

So while the Judge is reviewing the Fishers claim that this does not belong in a Federal Court the Town is moving ahead with a new plan, exempt themselves form the law. The Unified Development Ordinance" (UDO) is the Fishers code on new developments.

If the matter remains in Federal Court the Town will move into its usual legal mode, flood the system with filling, depositions, etc and drive the Peterson's legal bill into piles so high they will reach the moon. After all its only taxpayer money on the town side.

What they (Fishers) will be proposing and will probably approve is the "Exemption" of Fishers Town Council and Government from the UDO requirements and adherence thereto. In other words, its "do as I say, not as I do;" or the ever popular, "We're above the law and therefore not subject to it." The law is for you peasants. They are going to vote on this Tuesday August 12 and anyone willing to take a bet it passes. As usual the Town Council is unified and all decisions are made in advance.

So here we have a local government that exempts itself from its own laws, and claims that its citizens are not protected by the Constitution of the United States of America.

$37,500 and going up - Waste of public funds.

The elected officials of this state enjoy a great benefit to help them get reelected. We pay for them to do it. We have our elected representatives wasting taxpayer money on getting reelected. Rep Kathy Richardson has sent out her third "informational" mailer to 32,000 households in her district. Each of these mailers cost $12,500 to mail (cost obtained via Freedom of Information request), so she has already spent $37,500 and that does not include money to prepare these fancy four color flyers. By election time I am sure she will mail out 2-3 more. All at taxpayer expense. So if each elected state rep and senator mailed out just four of these flyers we are talking about a $10 million dollars. Now couldn't the State of Indiana use ten million dollars for a useful project. It's time to end this abuse of public funds to help people get re-elected.

Comcast - the new evil empire - Part II

Federal regulators determined on Friday that Comcast broke the law by slowing Internet traffic for subscribers using BitTorrent to swap large files with other people. But then the FCC decided it was enough to issue a press release declaring the victory of the rule of law and now it's time to move on. No fines, no nothing. So we here suffer at the hands of Comcast.

Standing before a room of oil company executives in June, John McCain flip-flopped and declared support for coastal oil drilling. Now the Washington Post is reporting that, within days, oil and gas execs ponied up nearly $1 million to elect McCain.1 It's another piece of evidence that in a McCain White House, oil companies will call the shots—just as they have with President Bush.

Het big oil I could use a million for my election campaign, you know for a million I will support off shore oil drilling at Morse and Geist. I know oil is under Geist, not too sure about Morse, but what the hey, go for it.

Comcast - the new evil empire.

I recently read comments about Comcast and its actions to limit the internet. Over the last few days I have been trying to transmit an 16.7M file to someone via the internet and found it was not being transmitted. I finally called Comcast customer service and was told they were limiting me to 7 meg maximum transmission.

I had never been notified of this and I was able to transmit this same file in the past. Since in the area I live I am only have the choice of one cable company I find this monopoly of service and their actions of limiting my transmission something that needs a full investigation and action by the government.

The telephone companies were opened up to competition and now it is time to do the same with cable. It is time to remove the lock cables companies have on the service to any area. I would like to see that a cable company can only be paid for the use of the cable and all content and products are open to other companies, the same as using telephone lines.

Until this is done we will continue to see increased cost to the consumer and a continued reduction of service.

If elected cable companies beware, I will fight you on behalf of the consumers of the State of Indiana.

One thing the Republicans seem to say all the time is that Democrats are bad for business and bad for the wealthy. The data is just in, if you have money and are invested in the stock market – you better vote democratic this fall.

Here are some facts:

1. The Dow Jones Industrial Average produced an annualized return of 7.21% during Democratic presidents, in contrast to an average of 3.6% during Republican presidents -- or almost precisely half as much, in other words.

Crude oil prices drop $16 a barrel in three days, gas prices at the pump drop five cents. So if crude can drop almost 11% how come gas drops only 1%?

If I were elected I would be calling the Attorney General and asking this question.

This morning I drove downtown to meet with a group of people about my run for office. Not knowing how long it would take, I had a shock; almost every light turned green and I zipped down fast. Since I was 1/2 hour early I stopped in a McDonalds and sat outside having a cup of coffee. Next to me was Mike. He introduced himself to me and asked about my shirt that says Joe Weingarten for State Representative.
“What Party?” – Democrat
“Good, good. I have down on my luck and no job and I heard Obama the other day on responsibility”
You see Mike is black.
He continued “My daughter who is 10 also hear him and we talked about it.” What did she say-
“She asked me how come mommy works and you don’t?”
“That got me thinking and about my responsibilities to my family.”
I asked him what he was doing. He told me he was on his way downtown for an interview at the one of the hotels. They had an opening and he passed the first test since he finished high school. We chatted a few more minutes and then I told him I had to go to my interview to hopefully get some people to help me get elected. I wished him the best of luck in his job hunt and told him to keep at it no matter what. He said he would and the lord would help him. The he asked me for a big favor. “Sure I said what can I do?’ “I will never have a chance to meet Mr. Obama, but since you are running for office you will and when you do please thank him for turning my life around.” I shook his hand and assumed him I would.

Mike – I wish you and your family the best, I hoped all morning you got the job. And, should I ever meet Mr. Obama I will pass on your message, maybe he will read it on the internet in this blog. I also noticed you called him Mr. Obama and you’re the first person I know who did that, hopefully you soon you can call him Mr. President.
